Experiences - 400mg concerta and drinking.

two days ago swim did 400mg of conerta drank a bunch of beers and was on anti depressants. swim is currently fine atm but should he try to avoid it if he seems to do it again? i know what drinking on concerta cuases a forum of Ethylphenidate

Thats a lot of methylpheniate :O If one does not notice any adverse effects... he should be alright... That dose is just... scary.

One should be cautioned about the addition of an anti-depressant. SWIM has had experiences where a simple additional dose of his SSRI put him in very bad positions.

Keep in mind that alcohol and monoamine stimulators can have interesting, and sometimes unpleasant, interactions.

Swimmy has done 770 mg of concerta It caused swimmy to have fucked up halluiactions if swimmy looked at small objects they were jumping and when swimmy saw any shadow of a object the shadow looked it was having a seizure or something

Wow thats alot... SWIM did 165mg of concerta and felt as if SWIM was on the verge of blacking out. the were red pills with Azul 55 on em... anyone with more experience on the subject possibly kno why i felt so fucked up on that dose???

First of all from what I have read/researched, the effects of mixing alcohol and Concerta is dependent on many things. SWIM has had a very hard time listening to people telling him not to drink. The question SWIM asked was "is it dangerous?" Not really. With every med, it seems they say not to drink, but if you research it to the specific drug you find its ok. SWIY should take it slow with mixing alchohol and concerta to see how it effects them. SWIM never found any negative effects from mixing Concerta and Alcohol, and still has a high tolerance for Alchohol. In SWIY's experience you described.. 400mgs? thats insane. Def depending on the tolerence SWIY has to the drug (if any). SWIY should be more concerned with the dose of concerta, instead of whether or not alchohol is to be mixed with the drug. Hypothetically if there are any negative side effects of mixing alchohol with methylphenidate, then this would be exaggerated on a higher dose. Still SWIM can't find anything saying its dangerous to mix. SWIY should be careful and remember, as common as it is, doesn't mean SWIY should be non-shallot about it.

Pretty much repeating what SWIM wrote above. SWIY should be more careful!! These are all symptoms of an OD. Sounds like SWIY was close.

A side note. Tolerance always comes into play. SWIM is on 54mg Concerta(alza) a day, and this morning decided to take 2 of them (108mg). SWIM found the effects rather weak. However, someone who wasn't used to 54mg would find 108mg probably fairly strong.

in a previous life, swim had a great deal of knowledge in this area. in all honesty, he is not entirely sure as to how the timed delivery system employed in concerta (search the threads for details) is effected by alcohol. Here's the short version: underneath the outside layer is an osmotic coating which water soaks through and expands the black portion at the bottom part of the pill which squeezes the two different color parts (MPH in different concentrations suspended in carnuba wax) out through the hole on top. alcohol, being a major dehydrator may have a different effect on the osmosis creating different outcomes from larger doses, and the general experience because it is being absorbed either in a different part of the body, in a different way in the same place, or not at all. the solubility of carnauba in ethanol is slightly better than that of water, so it is also possible that the carnauba may still be bound with it making it harder to incorporate into the body.

swim knows any form of MPH makes the drinks go down easier, but its good at masking one's limit, so as to kick them quite hard in the backside later on in the night, also, it is quite easy to do large amounts of these drugs, but please be careful, psychosis sucks and can last for very prolonged periods of time.

out of curiosity, did anybody take any caffeine around the time that they took the concerta, as swim considers this to be a valid point (as anyone who has ever taken good sized amounts of the two in conjunction would know) as this greatly influences how much one could handle especially with the added liver/kidney load of alcohol(or anything else(all of which are ill advised)).
