Experiences - adrenal burnout or equivalent?

SWIM's had 2 four months binges on adderall in his lifetime. He's at the end of the second binge as of now. He's stopped this time for a different reason than the first though. Whenever he takes a 20mg xr orally he feels the back of his neck tense up a lot, it's a twisting, hurtful pain he says. He gets the dry-rotted eyes feeling of a comedown right after the pill kicks in. There is no point at which he feels good. For as long as the amphetamine is in his system he is constantly thinking of how bad, physically and mentally, he feels.

Is he experiencing adrenal burnout? Has anyone heard of this happening?

He's currently supplementing with l-tyrosine and wants nothing to do with adderall as long as they make him feel like that.

He's just looking for some help, advice, as no one around him is knowledgeable on this kind of shtuff and I personally am not either.
