Combinations - Wellbutrin and MDMA

Swim was on effexor and wellbutrin, he didn't like the side effects of effexor so after 8 months he slowly withdrew from effexor first then wellbutrin 2 weeks later. With a year span from his last dose he took some e about3 weeks after he stopped effexor (1week after stopped wellbutrin), and nada...Swim was told on another posting that effexor could inhibit MDMA from working for up to 6-8 weeks. This was not a big suprise, however swim's doctor is not happy he is off all antidepressants given that he had a pretty good episode of depressionlast fall after his family decided it was time for swim to stop drinking, andsmoking, and smoking weed, and doing e occasionally. Swim has been a good boy and re-evaluated what is good for swim with the appropriate family members, this includes the occassional visit to neverland (no not jacko's). He understands the doc's concern although he's keeping thecontent on a need to know basis.


QUESTION:in the past swim took wellbutrin to stop smoking, he also may have experimented with MDMA at the same time and remembers nocontradictionsor problems with rolling. Is this a wise or and stupid thing for him to do -- e.i. take wellbutrin as an insurance policy but still plan the occasional roll. Swim really needs to take a vacation from himself and reality once and a while cause he's just had one hell of a fucked a year to deal with,mostly sober. All he wants is a weekend pass a couple times a year and some solitude the rest of the time.


Any other tips for pharmacological experiences by those who are not cabbage heads (heavy users) that enjoy the occasional trip in to the abyss would be gretly accepted. Swim is a great fan of E and used to love buds but recently has not enjoyed the experience of herbs or booze. Herecentlyhas becomeintested in RC's but is nervous ordering because he is on probation and is scared shitless of the DEA. Swim thinks Methylone or any of the 2C's sound interesting though

Wellbutrin is not a good mix with anything speedy, it will increase your risk of seizures. If you do it, it would be a good idea to add a benzo or other antiseizure med into the mix. Be sure to check drug interactions.

From what I know and read you should never mix mdma with any maoi. It can be very dangerous, since the action of extacy is so powerful on the brain and central nervous system. Personally if I was on that I wouldn't take e.

wellbutrin is not an maoi

SwiM had a friend once who took too much wellbutrin and had a seizure from it. The friend got all confused and couldn't remember where he was or who anyone around him was and got all scared, and had to get picked up and brought to the hospital.

SwiM thinks swiY should be careful mixing it with anything especially mdma. It doesn't sound like a good mixing drug anyways

wellbutrin lowers the seizure threshold, which is why it should not be taken by people who are already seizure prone. its also a bad idea to take it with with other things that lower seizure threshold, like alcohol.

as for mixing it with mdma, i havent heard any reports of dangerous effects, although most people say that when they do mdma while wellbutrin is in their system, the wellbutrin seems to cancel out all the "rolling" effects of the E. so basically its just a waste to roll with wellbutrin.

SWIM was on Wellbutrin SR two of the five MDMA experiences.
No issues to note.

If SWIM happened to be on Wellburin again and planned on MDMA fun, SWIM would abstain from Wellbutrin for 1-2 weeks just to be extra safe.

I personally don't consider it stupid to dose whilst on Wellbutrin, however, I'd do as many harm reduction steps as reasonable possible. Perhaps it may fall into "unwise."
I'm not even a fan of drinking Redbull with liquor due to the extra stress on the body.

SWIM was on Wellbutrin and was smart enough not to do drugs while he was on it (which wasn't a long time, since SWIM loves drugs). SWIM has seen someone go into a Wellbutrin/coke/ecstasy seizure and it wasn't pretty. Heroin and weed are the only things SWIM would think would be safe to do while on Wellbutrin - but not 100% sure about that.

SWIM was on 300mg Wellbutrin XL(bupropion) for about a year and a half.

During this time, SWIM noticed a couple interesting reactions with other substances. For example, DXM affected him MUCH more intensely. Some DXM trips would continue even after a full night of rest. Also, alcohol affected SWIM quicker too.

SWIM didn't use stimulants while he was on Wellbutrin, but just because of a lack of interest. SWIM would just like to say that Wellbutrin can interact very strongly with other substances so be careful, but to be honest, SWIM would have used E if he had the chance at the time. Just use a smaller dose and keep a sober trip sitter handy for the first couple times.
