Re: Tranylcypromine
Tranylcypromine is an MAOI, and all of the rigid dietary restrictions about avoiding foods high in tyramine need to be adhered to with it's use
Where the flamingo lives, it is a "last resort" kind of anti-depressant, reserved for those with resistant depression, or who are intolerant of all other drugs It's absolutely contraindicated with sympathomimetics (amphetamines), alcohol, other MAOIs, dextromethorphan, many sedative/hypmotics and a whole host of other things, including diuretics, many antihypertensives and general anaesthethics!
