Bumps in Back of Head. Heroin?

Not sure if this should be in the heroin subforum or not so if so sorry and move it on...

So about a 2 months ago swim started shootin/snortin heroin. Swim has had previus experience with opiates such as oxycodone etc. So anyways swim noticed a strange mild pain in the right side of his head sometimes ussually after shootin but thought nothing of it since it was so mild. Recently swim hasnt shot h in about 2 weeks and has started getting more moderate pain in his head within the past 3 days and has felt 2 lumps inside the right side of the back of his head just under his skull in the neck area. He noticed these about 2 days ago now has what appears to be 3. today hes had pain thats accuatly been somewhat annoying and the bumps seem bigger so hes very concerned and is going to the doctor tomorrow. He is quite a hyperchondriac but since the lumps are definetly there and other people have felt them he knows they are real. Any ideas or similiar stories would be great but please try not to worry swim too much as he has intense anxiety and will be going to the docs tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Re: Bumps in Back of Head. Heroin?

Is it possible that when SWIY injected H, SWIY fell back and hit their head? Seems like a reasonable answer to SWIM...

AW: Bumps in Back of Head. Heroin?

Why Swiny is not asking a Medic in Person to Person.
Swiny have to take care himself,
if we say now: "Oh, that is not a Problem, continue with your Life",
maybe swiny will loose important Time!

Ask a real Doc. about that!

P.s.: Swim is not writing this because he don`t like People who asking questions,
but sometime he see People who lost Life because they ask in a Forum for Help!

Re: Bumps in Back of Head. Heroin?

It's good that you are going to the doctor, but they are most likely just "pilar cysts" or "scalp cysts" and not related to opiates. They can stay dormant for long periods of time, swell up, get smaller, etc. on their own. It's possible that while on opiates and itching yourself, you may have irritated one.

Here's a link so you can check it out yourself:

http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1058907-overview
Quote:
Pilar cysts are common, occurring in 5-10% of the population.1 Greater than 90% occur on the scalp, where pilar cysts are the most common cutaneous cyst. Pilar cysts are the second most frequent type of cyst on the head and neck.2,3 Pilar cysts are almost always benign, malignant transformation being extremely rare. Pilar cysts may be sporadic or may be autosomal dominantly inherited.4 They contain keratin and its breakdown products and are lined by walls resembling the external (outer) root sheath of the hair.1
It also could be a boil which formed on your scalp line. Boils are actually bacterial, and can spread easily and become clusters called "carbuncles," which might account for why yours apparently went from 2 to 3 bumps.

http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C120793.html
Quote:
Boils are infected, pus-filled swellings in the skin that are often located in or near hair follicles. They are most often found on the back of the neck and in other moist areas of the body like the armpits and groin, but may be anywhere on the body. Sometimes several boils form close together in a cluster. A carbuncle is formed when several boils merge to form a single deep abscess with several heads or drainage points. An abscess may be so deep that it may not surface for a long time.

SWIM would guess it is either a cyst or a boil, which your doctor can drain and remove.

If it makes you feel any better to hear: SWIM had a similar thing happen to him in his early teenage years. He had a tiny bump his whole life on his scalp that he never gave any mind to. One day he hit his head right on the spot where the bump was, and when he woke up the next morning the bump was large, red, swollen and soft. He promptly went to the doctor just to be sure, but it turned out to just be a cyst which they cut open, drained, and removed the core from. They test it just in case for cancer, but it was benign, which nearly all are. It wasn't so bad.

But please see your doctor and let us know how it turns out. Thanks, good luck, and take care!
