It depends what your looking for :P
Ritalin performed the worst as a positive stimulant for
SWIM. They were alright to insufflate for parties and whatnot...
If SWIM really has ADD, he should really choose whatever helps him
If SWIY is looking for something perky,
Adderall should fit that bill. 40mg felt like a decent "ecstacy" pill; it was nothing like
MDMA, but it was a heavy
amphetamine rush (SWIM was extremely outgoing, etc.).
If SWIY is looking for a calmer amphetamine, he should consider vyvanse (lisdexamphetamine). SWIM really likes the effects of vyvanse compared to other amphetamines, its calmer, lasts a long time, and the
comedown is smooth. SWIM notices much less of a 'rush' and more of a 'sweep'; When SWIM peaks at ~ T + 2-3hrs he just feels... great. Its not a mania, more of a general affection; music is still so amazing during his peak. (He slams on some Disturbed, Slipknot, Daft Punk :P).
But, its no so great recreationally... SWIM found that upping his dosage only potentiated the effects (and the comedown :/ although still smooth); thus, if SWIM takes 3x dose (210mgs) when he wakes up, he is almost assuridly up till wee hours of the next morning. SWIM occasionally pops an extra 70mg (his dose) during the day... He still feels the desire to expand the high :P usually he doesn't bother though. He has found his normal dose is fine, and his days are a little happier and exciting. Anyway, SWIM relates recreational high to more of a norepinephrine stimulation, less feel good, more activity and desires.
Yet, SWIM feels vyvanse is the easier and more pleasant amphetamine to use daily, Plus, it is a prodrug module (has an extra lysine molecule attatched) which means it will act as an extended release but cannot be insufflated or IV'd (it must go through your liver to become active... unless you cut off the lysine molecule :P). Doctors are also less scared of abuse, thus finding it easier to prescribe. There is no generic, though, one can expect to pay around 20+ US dollars for his dose.
Anyway, you can tell SWIM likes vyvanse :P but to each his own, you may like your setup better. BTW, 70mg is a high dose... SWIM was prescribed 210 back in the day, and it stopped working :/ His neighbor, though, is prescribed some 20mg and she finds it helps her ADD significantly.
