Storing - Storing Betel Nuts

Does anyone know how to store betel nuts? SWIM found some a week ago and has had them in the fridge ever since - just wondering if anyone knows how long they will last or the best storage method?

fresh or dried? If they are fresh. best to keep them like that and use them soon. If dry, don't worry about it and store them in a jar willy-nilly, nothing can hurt a dried betel nut (except the LHC, but it is inadvisable to store ANY drugs in a super collider, it's the first place all cops look on a raid)

If they are fresh, can you really bite them? The doktor has only seen dried nuts and they are like stones, you can drill, saw, and polish them, but you can't slice them with anything less then some sort of laser knife.

Thanks for the reply - they're fresh and SWIM doesn't know how quickly SWIM can chew them all so was wondering how long they'd be safe if stored in fridge or freezer? And whether this hurts them.... SWIM has also had dried ones for quite some time and they store well in a container at room temp - after about 12 months some of them had a little mouldy looking stuff develop but SWIM thinks this is partly caused by wet hands grabbing out of the container. As a side note what is LHC?

Large Hadron Collider, a mega structure designed to smash atoms into their component parts and examine the origins of the universe, they are all the rage in the UE, you don't have one of your own?

So you can actually pop the fresh nuts in your mouth and they don't break your teeth? Living in the US, the Doktor has never seen any fresh nuts, only rock hard dry ones.

You're not likely to get a great answer here to be honest, paan just doesn't seem too popular around these parts.

Try freezing some, see what happens, what's the worst that can happen?
