San Pedro Extraction - Is it still good?
A close friend of mine did a San Pedro extraction (grind & boil down) a few months ago, with awesome results. He kept enough of the extract for about two trips in a 20oz soda bottle, and stored it in a cool dark closet for about 2 months.
Recently, he checked on the bottle again, and noticed a white/green sediment that had settled at the bottom of the bottle. It looks quite similar to the goopey concotion that was strained out of the final boil. There is no mold, and the bottle seems to be under a bit of pressure, but other than that, it looks like it did 2 months ago.
He has two questions:
1. Has the extraction been sitting too long to have any effect? He plans to go backpacking and do a nature trip sometime in the near future, and doesn't want to be disappointed if the bottle of extract will taste terrible but be beyond it's "shelf-life". If it's too hard to tell, he may bring along some blotter or shrooms as backup.
2. Is the sediment at the bottom what it looks like: simply sediment from the ground up cactus and something that will not contain mescaline? He doesn't wish to consume it unless necessary (vomited last time he tried, wants to try to minimize the nausea).
My buddy can take pictures of the bottle if it would help... The bottle is tinted green, but he doesn't want to transfer it to another bottle because the sediment will probably mix in if he tries.
And does anyone have tips for wilderness trips? My friend plans to be at least 20 miles from any civilization, and would appreciate any advice or bits of wisdom anyone might have to impart.
Thanks for your help in advance!
