Language Confusion and Psychedelics
SWIM is a relatively experienced psychedelic user, having had a few shroom and acid trips, and one each of a K and 2C-I trip. Something that he has noticed, particularly on mushrooms but also notably on acid is a sort of "language confusion" that occurs, generally at the peak of the experience. SWIM has difficulty communicating because every time he thinks of a word in order to say it, it is almost as if an explosion of 3-5 different "words" occur at the same time. The two most interesting aspects of this are that SWIM has noticed everything that these other words are definitely not of any actual language, and that everything he actually speaks comes out in fully fluent and sensical English. (You know...as far as tripping goes.)
The "other" words are always multisyllabic and generally fun to say. (Daykoda-Ioofra being a recurring example.) SWIM was wondering if any other SWIMmers had experienced this sort of mental phenomenon before? Given that the words don't actually manifest in speech, SWIM hypothesizes that he is experiencing some sort of more basic aspect of language formation. Any other theories would be welcome and appreciated, especially by anyone with some sort of background in neurology or linguistics.
