Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances added to the new illicit drugs

12. For the Cabinet supported the Ministry of Health to prepare amendments to the rules of Latvia controlled drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors. These amendments added in Latvia controlled drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor lists of new substances, and plants (eg mitraginīns, mitragyna speciosa (kratom), BZP, Salvia divinorum, etc.).

According to the Health Ministry (WM), these additions were necessary because the last time the Internet is offered in both the variety of fresh and dried plants, their parts and products derived from plants used for the purposes of inebriation, because their effects are similar to lists of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. After the VM said, such products may lead to dependency, undermining the health and public safety. For the prosecution who they are imported, manufactured, distributed or used these substances and products need to include the relevant lists. WM indicates that the lists of substances included in new plants and not being used nor medicine, nor in other sectors of the economy.

The new rules amend the MIC INFO clients will receive immediately after the official announcement "Latvian Journal, which will be published in the amendment effective date.
