Opinions - Taking the step to Suboxone

SWIM has been addicted to Hydrocodone/APAP for about 2 years now and has recently got his hands on a prescription to Suboxone. SWIM was wondering if anyone can give any insight as to what this experience will be like, and also when it would be appropriate to start. Also, SWIM doesn't quite understand how to take it. SWIM knows its a sublingual tablet, but do you swallow the "juices"? how long do you let it dissolve? SWIM is definitely confused and doesn't wish to begin therapy until that confusion is cleared up. Also, SWIM still suffers a bit of pain, but is not sure if it is occasional withdrawal pain or actual back pain. Will suboxone help with that too? is there a high that comes with Suboxone? also, how many are taken per day?

SWIM appreciates the help, I know there is a lot of questions, even basic ones, but SWIM doesn't understand Suboxone at all. Thanks for all of your help in advance!

Suboxone is not to be taken until SWIY is in withdrawl. SWIY puts one under his tongue lets it dissolve and swallows the juices. It is important to note that it has an opiate blocker in it so SWIY will not be able to use hydro/oxy/any other opiate for a few days after taking one. SWIM used subs effectively over a 3 week process and was completely off OC's, SWIM started back up again but that is a different story. They are effective and will help SWIY if you let them.

Depends on if SWIM has 4 or 8mg subs. But SWIM would start off small and see how it works for him, 4mg is a good bit of sub and when SWIM first started taking it, he would take 4 in the morning and 4 at night and be very good with that.

Please excuse swims ignorance friends, but swim was under the impression that subs was for withdrawing from "the heavy stuff". Swim hadn't considered that addiction to Hydrocodone could require the use of the heavy artillery. Swim welcomes your comments and apologizes for the threadjack.
