FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
This is my very first post. I love the website and the people who post.I have been reading the forum for half a year. Please comment if i have broken any stipulations demanded.
SWIM's use of cocaine has increased tremendously in the past month(mostly because females throw money at SWIM and cannot turn down free cocaine) but SWIM was wondering when does it hit the boundary of fun and addiction. Swim already understands its all relative but sharing personal experience always makes one feel more comfortable and careful. Please respond openly there is no wrong comment lol SWIM has been doing on average a half gram a day for the past week. |

Re: FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
In SWIM opinion SWIY hits the boundary when after regular use for some time (1-2 weeks) stopping causes withdrawal symptoms and a strong (sometimes overwhelming) desire for more cocaine that SWIY just cannot get it out of his head unless he does more coke, that’s the watermark of when addiction starts; from then on tolerance develops, use increases and psychological dependence deepens.
Although it’s highly variable when cocaine addiction develops (if it does) and depends on many individual factors; high-dose daily use presents a very real risk of dependence, either true “addiction” (psychological dependence) or “non-craving dependence”; ceasing its use would cause SWIY to be too tired, depressed and unfocused to carry out his activities without being truly “addicted” and he would need to use just to carry out his activities. In SWIM experience of becoming a “CPHM” (Cocaine Powered Human Machine) using daily in high doses to do everything from work to party; everything goes well at the beginning since being coked-up gave SWIM an edge in everything but then the downward spiral begins, tolerance develops requiring ever-increasing doses and stopping caused severe lethargy and depression (among several other very unpleasant things), SWIM could not stop because without coke wasn’t able work or do anything for that matter, however SWIM did not developed a true addiction until tolerance became so high that he resorted slamming(IV) daily which is one most addictive things anyone can do. SWIM recommends SWIY to try stopping daily use for 2-3 days and see how he feels and to try to keep the dosage as low as possible; a half-a-gram-a-day use can easily turn into a cocaine addiction which is not something to play around with. |

Re: FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
The first sign of addiction is asking the question . . .
But seriously, with cocaine addiction, NIK thinks that cravings and addiction go hand in hand. If you are not sure what severe cocaine craving might be like, try this test: Put a plastic bag over your head for a minute. Take it off. Now, don't breathe. That's it. The desire to breathe is a craving similar to how bad the craving to use cocaine can get. If you are not there yet, congratulations. If you think about cocaine: buying it, using it, finding money to buy it, etc. a great deal of the time when you are not using it, that is addiction, and it will only progress. Good luck. FC |

Re: FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
the needle was what got swim hooked. He has been clean off that junk for some time now but as he sits here stoned out on ... everything... all he can thing about is that sweet sweet rush the metallic taste the exploding train crash going on behind your eyes taking over the whole body.. Unbelievable how addictave that is. But as far as sniffing stop while Swiy can its swims advice to everyoe about just about every drug stop before it takes over and the you you knew is dead and buried. Sorry for forgetting but welcome to the forum this is a great place and swim is happy to have swiy.

Re: FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
Cocaine is not as addictive as the anti-drug establishment says; they exaggerate addiction potential for all drugs except for the legal ones; Nicotine is the most dependence-causing substance and quite harmful and is available in nearly every store.
But cocaine is also more addictive than most people think (thanks to all the irrationally exaggerated propaganda); even in its most common form (snorted) cocaine can induce subtle but very real forms of “association”: recreationally used it can become associated with the activities, places and persons with which is used and quickly make a night-out synonymous with doing coke and if there is no coke the night/party is not fun anymore. This kind of “association” can develop in any frequent activity where the use of coke is concurrent; like for example doing a line before having to give a speech in front of many people, with frequent use anyone can become “dependant” on coke for talking in public and be unable to do so properly without coke. Quite a few people who use cocaine semi-frequently (2-3 times per month) have these “associations” caused by classical conditioning which is a form of associative learning and plays a huge role in starting and maintaining an addictive process, the more frequent the use the more “associations” are created. However this is not a psychological dependence as has been described in the thread; is far subtler but can be the path to a real addiction; cocaine can be powerfully addictive for a lot of people, its a dangerous drug (narrow therapeutic index) with many potential side-effects some of which can be quite serious including death; it must be used with care and respect and knowing and accepting the risks. |

Re: FIRST POST COCAINE frequency
amen to the post above...
something most people don't realize is the fact that (semi) operant conditioning is something very physiological. there seems to be some form of consensus among cocaine users that cocaine is not physically addictive. Besides the obvious philosophical reasons why this is not true (what is physical and what is psychological, dualism or materialism etc) the fact of the matter is that cocaine (any substance that disturbs homeostasis for that mater) WILL alter physiological pathways of the brain, sometimes irreversibly. a thing that every cocaine user can associate with is the excitement of preparing the first line which actually accounts for half the high...Thats something that can cannot be unlearned. Its like riding a bicycle, once your brain has formed new neural pathways to accommodate the activity thats it, it never goes away. this goes for pretty much any type of addiction, cocaine has the drawback that operant conditioning is the very way it works. cocaine->increase in DAT->increase of MAO->decrease of dopamine production->receptor down-regulation->new neural pathways this accounts for using in the hours/days/months/years. as with everything treat it with the utmost respect and use it as a standalone experience not to augment a habitual aspect of your life (going out every sunday is a habit by the way) |
