Why do you take drug(s)?
SWIM only tries to explore new feelings and dimensions previously unattainable in reality. Drugs allow entirely new and different experiences. |

on the most basic level, its because i wish to experience what various drugs have to offer. i just think its important to experience as much as possible in life, and drugs offer an experience that is so unlike anything available without them. curiosity, really.

yea... id say initially curiosity... and then i think its human nature to want to return to places/feelings what we like<!--
var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; window.onload = SymOnLoad; //--> |

In SWIM's case, something keeps bringing him back, seems different every time. This last time around his roommate inherited som $$ from passed away relatives, and SWIM has been scoring for his roommate (plus some good cut-ins for doing it).
Last time around, SWIM was depressed & kinda self medicating (to put it another way, it was f'ing something to do when he couldn't think of a damn thing else). Not that different this time I guess... somethin' to do, feels good, opportunity came up so why not do it. Quote:

I first began doing drugs out of curiosity and then to expand the breadth of experiences life has to offer. Psychedelics are pretty damn useful in exploring your own mind and learning more about the world. Fundamentally, we do drugs for the same reason we do anything else- we like how it makes us feel. Being on a drug is simply adifferent mindsetfrom being sober and thats all I really want sometimes.The experience is valuable in itself.Drugs also help me to do things I wouldn't be able to do otherwise (i.e. cocaine gives you energy and confidence, weed helps me relax, etc.) |

hard to say, i use each drug for different things. opiates for
chillin. Weed for anything, psycadelics for exploring my mind, uppers for late night partys ect. I guess i would say curiousity on the human mind and wanting to enhance life. |

Medicine (for my body) ... then, medicine for my soul. I came into the world of psychedelics through the medicinal benefits of Medical Marijuana. This magical medicine has the power to relieve me of (most of) my pain. This allows my mind to concentrate on other things (instead of concentrating on my current level of discomfort); this is a HUGE healing. I have a few physical problems (including, luckily for this posting, arthritis). In California, if a person has any of a long list of medical conditions (Arthritis is listed, by name), all he need do is get his doctor to sign a form ... then that person can legally possess, buy, and grow marijuana. I tried this new medicine. It worked (very)well. This convinced me to get certified for legal use. My regular physician was none-too-excited about signing the Recommendation form (she said, I don't want the Feds to see my name being used; they may do something bad to me). OK. If I had to spend 10 years to get my DEA license to dispense drugs, I MIGHT be overly cautious about putting it at risk. There are a half-dozen-or-so doctors who are out-there about agreeing to sign such forms. So, I brought my medical file to one of those physicians who has written such Recommendations before (1000s, in fact). A quick review of my records, convinced him that I qualified (oh boy). So, my spiritual life quickly took a big positive step: Less pain = more happiness. Then, I noticed that these psychedelic feelings (different perspectives of the meaning of my life) was something important to my journey through life. My next drug was LSD. I have known about it for years, through friends who have used it, but had decided that I was doing OK-enough without it. I bought a good supply of it. I took some, and sat on the beach. As the waves came rolling in, and then went back out, I could feel my life ebbing and flowing too. That first day, my whole perspective about life changed. I thought (before that day) that the whole of life was to be consistent (which I now see is impossible ... because things always are changing). This stole a lot of the magic of life away. My new perspective: Do not hold on too tight to things, so as not to allow them to change. Change is NOT the enemy ... being afraid of change is the enemy. Later (when my supply of LSD was exhausted, AND I couldn't find more), I moved into the world of RCs (almost the same, but different). Different is OK, because change is not the enemy. So, I take these drugs to help make my spiritual life more fulfilling. Life is better, now. My body feels better, my feelings are more generally positive, my spirit soars on a regular basis. I am grateful that these goodies exist. How has my life changed? If I need to do strenuous work (say once a month or so), I can dose up. Then, I use the power of my increased concentration to perform that work in the easiest-to-my-body way as possible. These drugs have saved my body MUCH stress-and-strain. |

of course, the attainment of altered realities is progammed into our dna. if we, as a species, were not meant to get high, there wouldn't be such a multitude of consciousness-warping substances in nature... we STRIVE for the other-worldliness because it is there... oh, and it's fun, too.

to take drugs should be a human right. If we are smart enough to create something, it should be left up to us to ingest it or just look at it or whatever. I do what I do for personal reasons, very rarely do I do anything substance-wise just for kicks.Our awareness is at such a level that wehave to wonder about our existence.A means of escape, from the reality which just is never completely fulfilling due to the fact that time exists here is my reason for doing what I do. Though I firmly believe that I will eventually feel the overwhelming need to seek fulfillment w/o help from something, as it is not 'the way' and there is only one 'way'. |

For me there are 3 main reasons (maybe others i am not aware of)
1.kills bordem, when i'm stressed i turn to drugs but that is rare. 2. wanting to explore different consiousnesses, and curiousity. 3.the pure fun of it. i don't (anymore) let drugs interfere with me functioning propery |

1- Eliminates inhibitions 2- Euphoria 3- Energy Bottom line, I could be having the worst and most stressful day of my life yet when I take a drug it can pull me into a happy/euphoric state of mind, causing me to completely forget about how my day has sucked. |
