Where to meet seasoned psychonauts

Where would someone look to meet other seasoned psychonauts in person? This has been perplexing me for some time. I've seen MAPs holds meetings in Brazil and Grof's organization meets in Moscow next, but what for the common unwealthy person who can't trot the globe to make connections.

I even tried a couple of Grof's workshops which where interesting (and expensive), but the people seemed to be more on the new age (holotropic breathwork) end of the spectrum rather than the practical research approach.

I suppose if one is young and has money and has 10 years to invest in and MD to go the Karl Jansen/Rick Strassman route, but otherwise where does a real dyed in the wool lifelong psychonaut meet other people who comprehend that ethnogens are more than just escapism?
