Thumbs up Ritalin (snorting) + Smoking

Ok SWIM's been a fairly avid smoker for maybe 8-9 months now. But he doesn't consider himself addicted to nicotine. There are a lot of times in which swim does not have any desire to smoke and a cigarette will actually make him feel sick or knock him out (not in a good way). But when under the influence of alcohol and/or other substances (stimulants especially), swim goes through cigarettes like there's no tomorrow and loves every one.

SWIM especially loves smoking while on ritalin. To the point where doing ritalin without having smokes on hand is pointless for swim. Now swim read somewhere that tobacco's effect on the brain improves the ritalin high. SWIM believes there is much truth to this, because it is not a placebo effect, and swim also believes it's not a universal effect shared by all stimulant-type drugs. Coke + tobacco, for example, while extremely enjoyable, doesn't share quite the same synergy that amphetamines (ritalin in swim's case) and tobacco seem to share.

SWIM is pretty sure there is a scientific explanation for this. In fact he's expecting someone to share that explanation in this thread.

Both release, inhibit reuptake or mimic(at the most basic level of explanation) dopamine, so there is a synergistic effect IE they complement and add to each other

Re: Ritalin (snorting) + Smoking

Tobacco is a slight stimulant, it causes SWIMmers to release some dopamine (The neurotransmitter of addiction :P). One's body loves the feeling of increasing or continuing a euphoria, and the extra stimulation does just that.

nicotine also stimulates release of endorphins (always good) and a MAOI, harmane.

Re: Ritalin (snorting) + Smoking

SWIM CANT smoke on ritalin. Its strange , but true. Maybe because neurotransmitters are already abundant on ritalin.
SWIM thinks that he smokes because of acetylcholin receptor stimulation. SWIM will try huperzine , maybe this will replace tobacco.
