Aluminium Grinders - Possible Health Risk

intake of aluminium has been posed as a factor in dementia, SWIMS question is that even though aluminium griders are more durable could tiny amounts of aluminium be found in cannabis grinded in an aluminium grinder and if so then what the next best thing to use, and after all the use of aluminium grinders and dementia in cannabis smokers could become apparent in the future. This may be a paranoid line of enquiry but may be an important issue for the daily smoker.

Re: Aluminium Grinders - Possible Health Risk

A little paranoid, but when it comes to your health thats not usually a bad thing.

Bob said- "I think you should be good as long as the teeth dont touch each other when you grind the herbs. Aluminum is pretty sturdy and the soft nature of weed doesnt really allow for it to damage the grinder. You will be ok."

Cool Re: Aluminium Grinders - Possible Health Risk

SWIM has personally used two different aluminum grinders on a regular basis (almost daily) for a few years, and this thought has passed through his wandering mind. However, he can say with certainty that there is no risk here unless you can see actual physical damage or wear on the inside of the grinder. Unless there are aluminum shavings (and the anodizing in some cases) has been getting grinded off that you can actually SEE, then SWIM would say with 99.9999% certainty that there is no health risk to using these kind of grinders.

SWIM's trick is to put a little bit of oil (any cooking kind) on the moving parts and threading. This will assure a good grinding action with no aluminum flakes in yer bud!

Out of everything that SWIM has used to break up pot; hands, knives, razors, X-Acto knives, mortar & pestle, etc.. his little hash-making grinder that he bought at a local head shop is the favorite. This particular model is black anodized and has a pipe built into the top of it that is tucked away when not in use, and with just a few motions and its a pipe again, which is pretty freakin' cool!

Re: Aluminium Grinders - Possible Health Risk

From my understanding the aluminum doesnt become harmful until it's heated to a certain temperature at which point it releases a deadly gas.. Im sure just having your weed come in to contact with it via a grinder isn't going to affect your mental health.. Better safe than sorry though
