Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
First time this has happened, SwIM walked into a chain pharmacy and the clerk showed SWIM a board with info re:codeine dependence etc and SWIM had to sign to get painkillers for SWIM's back. Anyone else experienced this?
Also, check this out: http://www.ndc.hrb.ie/directory/news...4675&pointer=0 A guy I know met that Dr. O' Connor. He told me the man was an idiot. Apparently he doesn't listen to a word said by an addict when at the DTCB or Rutlands and has a generally dismissive attitude. This guy seemed genuinely upset by his interaction with the man. Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
While the CW extraction methods get known to more and more people,
they now take away this possibility to avoid cold turkey and that would force some (or many?) people into criminal activities again. very clever. |

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
What kind of codeine product did SWIY try to buy? SWIM has not been able to get codeinex cough syrup but has had no problems buying solpadeine or neurofen plus. What other codeine products are available in Irish pharmacies? Can you get co-codamol, benylin w/ codeine, or cough nurse?

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
It was a combination painkiller. SWIM wasn't asked for a sig in any other stores recently, just this one on Grafton St. I think the clerk mentioned that it was a new regulation but I haven't found anything online regarding changes to the law so perhaps it's just a new policy in that particular chain of stores. If so then the same thing might happen in stores from that chain in the UK.
Is co-codamol an actual product? I thought it was just a generic term for APAP/codeine products. I've never heard of cough nurse. Benylin w/codeine is available in some places but it's pointless due to the diphenhydramine content. http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/snaukfaucw/ There he is again. Jackass. Doesn't he realise that if codeine is withdrawn from OTC sales then there will be a number of users who could make the switch over to heroin as a replacement? |

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
It is, and its about a quarter the RRP of neurofen plus, far better value, plus far less suspicious than the slightly stronger brand names. SWIM has never been confronted and he's been buying it for nigh on 2 years

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
They always try and get SWIM to buy their own brand, insisting that it has the same ingredients. That may be so but the difference is clear when you take it.
SWIM has had full on arguments in a certain high street pharmacy regarding the quality of the ingredients, the competency/nationality of the factory staff who produced it, the cleanliness and accuracy of the equipment used in manufacture. Still they continued to sell it even though SWIM practically announced to the whole shop he was an addict. They are running a business afterall, and the impression was SWIM was their best customer. lulz. |

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
Diphenhydramine and opiates go great together. You get more dreams/visuals and less itching. "Cheese heroin" is a form of heroin that is mixed with crushed tylenol pm tablets.

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
Cough Nurse is a P medicine (available without script but only behind a pharmacy counter) containing diphenhydramine (stops codeine metabolism) and pholcodine- widely regarded as having no recreational potential despite being classed as a controlled drug. This might help someone with a dry cough which keeps them up at night, but is NO use for having fun.

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
Never had this in the UK.
Do they verify the signature? If so, I can see some people signing it "Gordon Broon" or "Jean-luc Picard" smeghead added 0 Minutes and 49 Seconds later... edit, specifically, south wales. 80% sell co-codamol as if it is plain old aspirin, the other 20% are very cautious about it Last edited by smeghead; 11-05-2009 at 11:18. There was no Id verification. I think the whole thing was a bit strange really.

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
They probably just want people to know they're aware of what's going on. Swims seen those boards in a few pharmacies, but he just flashes the old dear behind the counter a smile to knock her off guard.
They aren't stupid, the medical establishment and pharmaceutical industry is becoming aware of the CWE method and the increasing abuse of codeine. B**ts own brand tablets come with a foaming agent which makes them practically impossible to filter. Thankfully, brands like P*r*codol and P*r*mol, who seem to fully realise that the majority of their profits come from recreational users are showing no signs of changing their philosophy. |

Re: Signature needed buying codeine in Ireland.
I dunno if B**ts et al are aware of CWE myself, or if they are, they don't care.
All the b**ts around me have got rid of the long capsule tablets (the £2 "paracetamol and codeine" packets in the gray boxes) and now sell £1.60 normal round tablets (with <AB> on them, EXACTLY the same as you get in community pharmacies packets). These are sold in a white packet and can be CWE'd like any other. The old b**ts ones were shit to filter but they did filter in the end, you just had to be very patient with them. That is go to two chemists, start two CWE's, and leave the b**ts one extracting ready for another day. The cynic in me would say that the higher ups would rather the pills be abusable, especially in recession times. |
