Dose - Lorazepam vs. Alprazolam (Equivalent Dose)?

Hey, this is my first post here and I'm just curious what the difference between xanax and lorazepam is. Meaning, say 2 mg of xanax will fuck you up, how many mg. of lorazepam would you need?

Generally .5 mg of xanax is equivalent to 1 mg of lorazepam, so xanax is basically twice as strong. Lorazepam has much stronger sedating effects than xanax does though. Lorazepam is actually the drug injected at hospitals when a patient goes into a seizure. So xanax is stronger, but lorazepam makes you more tired and your body more sedated... SWIM has found that Lorazepam (Ativan) feels much weaker, although anxiolytic properties are still significant. If someone were to be using Alprazolam (Xanax) to get "fucked up", and takes 2mg (a "bar") to achieve the desired effects, SWIM would say that 4-6mg of Lorazepam would be required to reach a similar state. This varies from person to person, though, and what gets one person off may do nothing to another, so be safe and start low.
Note: Lorazepam IS used as a sedative at hospitals, although intravenous Clonazepam is becoming more popular for seizures in SWIM's area. Diazepam and Chlordiazepoxide are also used.

Is SWIM right in thinking that neither drug mentioned falls into the "sleeping tablet" benzo (i.e. tamazepam, nitrazepam) category anyway, and are more for anxiety than insomnia?
