Anyone else "immune" to alcohol hangovers and throwing up?
Hey y'alls,
I was wondering if anyone else seemed to be "immune" or resistant to hangovers and vomiting. swim almost never have a hangover the next day, regardless of how much swim drink. swim won't have ANY ill effects the next morning if I have less than 10 drinks. Hangover symptoms don't seem to appear unless swim has 12+ drinks in a night, an occurrence that Swim is trying to minimize. Also, on another note, swim never throws up from drinking. The one, single time he threw up from drinking, he was quite sick with a bad cold, took a bunch of medicine to fight his illness, and had around 12-14 drinks. Before someone says "swim just hasn't drank enough", he's blacked out many times before, and has drank quite heavily, just his body seems to skip the throwing up part and goes straight to blacking out, lol. BTW Swim isn't trying to "brag" about his drinking ability or whatnot. He's outclassed by many, many of his friends. he just wants to know if other people have similar drinking experiences. |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
Swim's the complete opposite. When Swim drinks lager, after about 3/4 pints worth (Swim have a fast drinking pace, without eating/drinking water in between), Swim can feel it in his stomach wanting to come back out, so has to take a break, then eventually at some point during the next 5 pints, Swim WILL throw up. Also, spirits are a big no-no too, they come back up as soon as they go down.
Hangovers - Swim gets them 90% of the time, even if Swim barely drinks much. Last edited by V.A.C.; 06-05-2009 at 16:57. |

only when swim's drinking stupidly. Lots of water and some vitamin B tablets are life savers. But no one's immune to a hangover. and if they say they are, they're not drinking enough!

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
As an alcoholic(in recovery) I can say that I did not get hangovers, lol, however I was drinking early enough the next day to avoid a hangover. I never did vomit though, but nausea was certainly an issue.

Wow, when I think of "alcoholic", I don't immediately think of a 24 year old. All the best to you mate.

SWIM likes the feeling of hangover these days. Everything feels pleasently sharp and amusing. He does vomit sometimes when drunk, though.
Here is pretty much duplicate thread: Pleasent hangovers http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78204 And my old thread about Hangover and Creativity: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22441 |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
Swim will feel a bit seedy the day after if he drinks more than 10 standard drinks, and will be throwing up after 15+ drinks with an all day hangover, just like his parents do
Swim feels that race/genetics play a large part in hangovers (not trying to being racist or offend as swim has friends of lots of different backgrounds). about half of swims asian friends cant even have 1-2drinks before their skin goes very blotchy and they get nauseous, whereas swim has never known an aboriginal who gets hangovers, this goes for swims native norwegian friend as well - who says neither he nor any of his family has ever had a hangover |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
I always throw up. idk why but even if I dont go overboard say 8 beers I throw up. I never get hung over though, Ive drank like 13 beers in a night and felt just a little tired the nxt day.
This only happens with beer, if I drink hard stuff I dont throw up. |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
You don't get hangovers because you're 18. I used to be the same way.
Give it 5 years of university partying, and you'll get hangovers. Oh, you'll get hangovers... The vigor of youth is often unrealized until you get too old to appreciate it.

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
SWIM does not really get hangovers from alcohol, just a bit tired if he had 10+...
SWIM usually does not throw up, while he sometimes forgets stuff on extreme binge drinking, but he threw up once the last year. Before that he only threw up a few times when he was 16 or younger, mostly when in combination with cannabis. |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
My friend does not get hang overs and he certainly drinks enough to be getting them. His dad does not get them either and he's an alcoholic. I have heard that alcoholics tend to not get them, but that could just be some street myth, or even a correlation due more to people not noticing negative consequences and thus tending to be more prone to excessive drinking. I wouldn't know, just random thoughts of anecdote and hearsay that come to mind. There's probably studies out there but monkey is, you guessed it, hung over and isn't going to go looking for one, lol.

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
When swim was in his teens......never a hangover, felt great.....but as swim got older,it seemed like it took longer and longer to process that crap..........
until it took like 3 days to get back to baseline. As far as throwing up....it would only be a mouthful, never prayed to the alter of the porcelain god all night. And swims stomach would give him about a minute warning,so he had time to go somewhere to puke, often going back the girl/woman he was with and not even rinsing out his mouth......true! But swim gave up drinking about 15/16 years ago,so whatever......... |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to hangovers and throwing up?
Swim has found out the more you drink the less you feel the hangover, maybe it could be due to a tolerance that builds up which is actually good because you can hang out more for the whole night without passing out..

SWIM thinks if you're not hungover, you're not doing it right. SWIM thinks if you're puking, you're not doing it right. SWIM thinks if you know where your socks are in the morning, you're not doing it right.

Haha, I always love these posts. The "you just didn't do enough" macho-man posts. Believe me man, Swim has had enough before, to induce hangover symptoms, he just doesn't get them, yet. He has several friends who can drink far more than he does; it's not about that, it's about whether hangovers occur for specific people or not. Jatelka (thank you for the interesting read btw) posted a very interesting link looking at this from a scientific perspective, and more anecdotally: Quote:
Sir, I think you hit the nail squarely on the head. Swim will be a little more appreciative of his youthful hangover-resistance, and not take it for granted. |

Re: Anyone else "immune" to alcohol hangovers and throwing up?
--> last night, 10 oz whiskee + 10 beer. Today = hell. ... . and I am on my 6th beer right now out of a potential 15. 1 perc. 20lbs overweight. Winded. Great BBQ: Cevapcici - try it.
--> up until about 26y.o.age (what a wondeful time) little micky (champ) would easily consume ,on a Friday night, 26oz hard liquor + several beer + smoke substantial jnts o' hassishh & wake up & go to the gym for 2hrs Saturday 1pm-3pm. No problem. Rollerblade 15km 3 days a week. Enjoy it while it lasts. I backpacked Europe extensively in 2001 & was crunk like 90 days HARD 24/7 consecutively ... 18 months mostly. aLL good things come to an end. Sometimes. ![]() |
