Cognitive effects of clonazepam?

So, my muse was prescribed clonazepan (Rivotril 2,5mg/ml), 10 drops in the morning and 5 drops before sleep to solve real anxiety problems related to tests.
But the usage should be continuous and my muse is worried about not being able to study as well when using rivotril, after hearing abou cognitive effect of bezes arround here.
So, do you think that solving anxiety can cause learning difficulties for her?
BTW, she also is a ADD person so she uses ritalin la 40mg in the morning and 30 in the afternoon.
But, back to the subject, will clonazepan ipair her cognitive skills althouhg it has been an axiety relief for almost a week now?

Re: Cognitive effects of clonazepan

SWIM is prescribed clonazepam for social anxiety. If taken in low doses (0.5mg), the cognitive effects should not be too pronounced. But for SWIM, when he takes 1mg or more he gets a little too relaxed and less focused. Everyone is different, but SWIM would not take more than 0.5mg for a test. He really does not even take any for a test, but rather presentations and interviews and the like.

If the anxiety is causing learning difficulties, then try a small dose next test and see if that helps. Just dont overdo it.

Re: Cognitive effects of clonazepan

If taken in proper amounts (such as the prescribed amount) it should not cause the type of trouble that your muse is worrying about. It will simply calm you down, not give you a buzz that would impair cognitive function. And as for the ADD the sedating effects of clonazepam should actually make it easier to sit down and focus. So to directly answer the question: no cognitive skills should not be impaired.

Re: Cognitive effects of clonazepan

That is probably the best news I received so far!
Clonazepan is helping me out with my anxiety so much that I actually am liking it...
Was just afraid that it would make harder to learn things and remembering them...

Re: Cognitive effects of clonazepam?

What exactly does 1 drop equate to, milligram-wise?

Either way...

SWIM has been taking 3mg Clonazepam daily for 2ish years. The only time he has ever stopped was actually just from March 20 to May 29, approximately 70 days. It took about 3-4 weeks before SWIM had full cognitive functioning back, as memory recall, as well as short and long term memory were ALL out of whack.
SWIM can't say how much of this can be attributed to the clonazepam, as he detoxed from (daily):
3mg Clonazepam (Klonopin brand-name) Rx
60mg Temazepam (Restoril) Rx
60mg Flurazepam (Dalmane) Rx
20mg d,-Methamphetamine (Desoxyn) Rx
40mg Oxymorphone (Opana ER) Rx
60mg Oxycodone (OxyContin) Rx
40mg Hydrocodone (Norco)
1400mg Carisoprodol (Soma)
4-6bags diacetylmorphine (Heroin)

Yeah; it was a rough detox. The opioid-withdrawals were over in about a week, and he assumes the same goes for the methamphetamine. It is, he believes, the benzos that kept his system out of whack for a while: exteme anxiety, depression, insomnia, lack of motivation, and so on.

Re: Cognitive effects of clonazepam?

A drop is, milligram-wise, equivalent to 0.1
so, 10 drops are 1 Mg.
