Side effects - AFOAF thinks he may have botulism from swallowing bad black tar, help him out!

So this FOAF tried eating some black tar heroin last night in addition to smoking it, something he has only tried a couple times before. He awoke with some troubling symptoms that he think may be the beginnings of "wound botulism" (only in this case from ingesting instead of injecting). He complains of a sore throat, tight muscles, blurred vision, and difficulty swallowing (mostly from dryness of throat, he can swallow just fine when he takes sips of water). He also feels like his breating is a bit labored. This friend of a friend wanted to stress that he has only done heroin a couple times before, and does not know if some of these symptoms are normal or not. This FOAF is a little freaked out that he is in the midst of some paralysis resulting from some infected tar (he resides in California where this is prominent). Of course, this FOAF is also a bit of a hypochondriac and didn't seriously think things were getting that bad until he read of the disease. I'm sure he would hate to head to the hospital, forcing him to come clean to his roommates what he has been up to, for no reason at all. Personally I have no experience with the drug so I can't tell him whether or not some of these symptoms are normal side-effects of heavy usage (he said he did a one and a half "loons", pea sized balls he paid XX each for). Lastly, he wanted to stress that his neck feels very tight as do his abdominal muscles, but had been doing push ups the day before. Please help calm him down or assert the seriousness so that he goes to the hospital.
