Prodrugs and insufflation

SWIM is confused as to how many people report successful experiences from snorting oxycodone whereas everyone says it is pointless for codeine because codeine being a prodrug needs to go through the liver.

SWIM just read on wiki that both drugs are processed by the cytochrome p450 pathway in the liver, so how come one is snortable and the other isn't? Is it the 'drip' that makes it work?
