Purity - Small crystals coated in thin brown "tar"?

Attached are 2 pictures of 1 gram of MDMA that SWIM purchased.

SWIM has never seen the chunks coated on the sides with a dark shade of brown. It smells a bit burnt, like burnt hair but not strongly. The inside of the crystals is a very light brown. Much like MDMA that SWIM has enjoyed in the past. It also tastes typically horrible, but this may not mean much.

After lots of online "research", SWIM has seen it suggested that this brown coating is an impurity that is found on the outside of larger crystals when prepared lazily, or rather, whoever created it did not clean it appropriately. Anything other than pure MDMA is not desirable to SWIM.

SWIM wonders if anyone can add their two cents to this?
Would SWIY consume this stuff as is without worry?
