A good friend tried kratom for the first time last night. He emailed me to report his experience. He purchased it online from a respected site in the entheogenic community, paying more than he needed to, yet purchasing with confidence that this first dose of kratom was indeed kratom. He's not the type of guy to stand around and boil plant matter repeatedly. He decided to stuff a few heaping teaspoons of dried leaf matter into his mouth and wash them down with a mug of water each time. He did this four times in total. He said the last couple of spoonfuls nearly made him gag but once they were down he didn't feel any nausea. He had only eaten some rice and corn earlier in the day.
He said noticeable effects came on within twenty to forty-five minutes. it began with a mild mood-uplifting sense of general well-being. He said he felt nice and happy. As he was coming up, he wrote, he decided to play one of his favorite video games, Call of Duty: World at War. I found it funny when he wrote that the competitive nature of Call of Duty usually makes him curse and yell at his television but while under the kratom effects he didn't get upset. He was just enjoying the experience of online gaming. He wrote more about the night, including his uncharacteristic enjoyment of television programming and the great sex he had with his girlfriend, which I'll spare DF the details.
His general impression of the experience is highly positive. He wrote the kratom high is very comparable to taking hydrocodone in that he could work, think, and function with total clarity yet he felt no pain and no worries. He sees how this plant can lead to dependence with irresponsible use and considers it a once in a while treat.
