Ice/Taiwan 1980's
I was in Taiwan in the late 1980's and it was flooded with a drug called ICE. I hear now, many years later it has become large in the USA. However during the 80's and early 90's I doubt whether this drug was even heard of in the USA. Taiwanese drug chemists were very busy supplying the Asian market (high demand), much like those supplying from the Burma are these days. Yesterday I was looking on Dr Shulgin's blog and he says that ice is a purified isomer of Methamphetamine.
Some points from my experiences. I In Taiwan and Japan during those days a score was provided in a small plastic vile that provided up to around 40 hits a time. (I was told) Each hit lasted (I was told) around 2 - 3 hours. Prices (I was told) were about 20 dollars a vile. The drug was either smoked or snorted (I was told) I was told that the high included burning euphoria in the hand, mental euphoria, racing heart, increased ability to interact with others, increased creative and logical abilities, increased confidence; the downside being over time possible paranoia, bad skin, and loss of teeth. In some cases total madness occurred, leading to incarceration of some individuals in various mental hospitals or prison. In addition to this why is everyone calling Ice Methamphetamine whereas it is actually 4-Methyl-aminorex ![]() Well it was originally 4-methylaminorex so why call Methamphetamine ice ? It isn't 4-methyl-aminorex is ice. |

tweakers today call meth ice, so ice is meth. at 2nd the majority of tweakers today even don't know 4-mar. at 3rd if you would give them some 4-mar, they would say "wow, best meth i ever had" and then let TT remind of the beatnik generation, who used the term "benzos" for speed, derived from benzedrine. (when TT was young he read that boring crap that kerouac and burroughs had written). today benzos are benzodiazepines, drugslang changes because of several reasons. in TT's place people argue about "what is speed and what is pep?" when TT was young, both terms were used for amphetamine. but most germans are shitforbrains, anyway... |

Anyone know where the term "benny" came from?
