Other - Can I CWE this?

Swim has 120 pills with codeine. They are'Fiorinal w/Codeine #3'. It has 30mg codeine/325 mg aspirin/40mg caffeine/50mg butalbital. They are capsules and in the capsules is a very very fine powder.

Swims has read all about CWEs which involve crushing tablet but would swim be able to do a CWE just by emptying out the capsules and proceeding from there?

Also, does the CWE pull out the butalbital AND codeine? or does the butilbital stay with the aspirin?

Swiq can’t see any reason why a normal CWE shouldn’t be used on these particular tablets, providing he proceeds with caution.

One source of information shows both Butalbital and Aspirin to be slightly water soluble, double checking this with Drug-Bank shows the predicted solubility of Butalbital = 1700mg/1000mls or 1.7mg/ml at 20c and The solubility of Aspirin = 4.6mg/ml.
Providing the above information is correct, and there’s no reason to suggest it isn’t, even filtered at room temperature for every 100mls of water used there would be a maximum of 170mg Butalbital and 460mg of Aspirin in the solution, when the water is chilled to say 1c these numbers should greatly be reduced.

It might be best to perform a trail run CWE on say 15 pills and don’t use any more than 50mls of water, this way swiy can access the results without putting himself in any risk. 15 pills should give <380-400mg codeine providing a well done CWE, (depending on tolerance swiy will only need a small amount of this liquid**)

It’ also important to realise the Butalbital will increase the sedative effects of Codeine, it’s vital swiy takes a much smaller dose of Codeine to allow for this, it’s also imperative no alcohol is consumed, besides increasing the risk of overdose, Alcohol, Aspirin and Butalbital combined could seriously damage swiys liver.
**Remember to reduce the dose of codeine.

Thanks for the info. Swim might not end up doing this for a few reasons: 1. That seems like alot of aspirin seeping in and 2. swims tolerance is quite high. She has been on methadone for 6 years starting at 150mg and now down to 30mg. So a low dose probably wouldnt do much anyway and a high dose would assumingly result in too much aspirin, which is obviously swims main concern.
