Real ADD
Swim is really an ADD person and takes ritalin la everyday for about 3 years now, my question is: is he going to develop any kind of tolerance to it?
I mean, he takes 70 mg a day and is that bad at all? is there any differences between real ADD and recreational users? Thanks in advance! |

70mg per day is above an often maximum daily dose of 60mg. While probably not dangerous, high doses carry some risks. SWIY should talk to his doctor and have regular blood tests, electro-cardiograms and blood pressure checks. |

Re: Real ADD
This dose was define by testing carefully, since my Muse has 95kg it is okay to get more than maximun allowed...
So, tollerance can happen huh? Sad... |

Re: Real ADD
I read that the maximum daily dose is not 60mg, but is either 90mg per day, or 2mg/kg/day (so for a 95kg user, 190mg), but I'm guessing they select whichever of these numbers is lower.
Got that info from: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/drugs/meth...ate-085400.htm About halfway down the page under "Dosage". And yeah, tolerance is possible with most medications, and definitely with ritalin. A user of ritalin who needs it for AD/HD might have success with reducing dosage on days where focus is not as important. For example using the 70mg on days that the person is going to work or school, but reducing the dose to maybe 40mg or 50mg on days off. 'Pulsing' doses can reduce tolerance, as the body does not become so used to getting a certain dose. Last edited by blipblop; 30-04-2009 at 13:41. Reason: To add second part of response |

Re: Real ADD
And does Ritalin fight back benzo's cognitive effects or should my muse start looking for some nootropics to minimize clonazepan's memory effects?

Re: Real ADD
From what I have seen, Ritalin does not improve memory retention. It increases attention span and concentration, enabling a person to actually absorb the information in the first place.
If SWIY is looking to improve their memory, they should consider ceasing clonazepam altogether. |

Re: Real ADD
That is the real dillema...
Ceasing clonazepam should bring back my anxiety right? My shrink told me that the dosage (1,5 mg per day) during a small period of time shouldn't bring me any trouble but I am not so sure... I mean, I trust him but I am anxious as hell so... Memory decrease should happen at any time or just after long time of usage? |

Re: Real ADD
Hmm, no idea about this med at all, have you tried one of the other forums that would be more specialised to talking about clonazepam?

Longshot, may I ask: did SWIY's anxiety begin after starting Ritalin or before? 70mg of methylphenidate per day is quite a high dose and may be contributing significantly to his anxiety problems. |

SWIM thinks that there is an difference, because recreational users are not interested in an constant eleveation of dopamine level in the synapse.
.. SWIM thinks that an constant (!) enhancement of dopamine in the synapse by stimulants is not the healthiest thing on earth , but its arguable. |

My muse was already anxious, really anxious prior to the meds...

Re: Real ADD
Her shrink says that clonazepan is just temporary...
maybe for about 6 months or so, taking 10 drops in the morning and 5 at night before sleep... which would mean 1.5 mg a day... anyway, not that high of a dosage huh? Beign ADD and anxious is a tough combination... |

Re: Real ADD
consider moving to an SSRI for anxiety, should have less cognitive deficits

Re: Real ADD
SSRIs have a lot of sometimes nasty side effects in general, including anxiety. I would stay away from an SSRI unless absolutely necessary.
