1st Timer's Kava Kava 40%

My dog is on probation for pot-related offenses. Bad dog! He ordered some kratom and loved it but he also wanted to try some kava. He ordered an oz of Kava Kava 40% extract powder to try it out. He's been "swimming" through the forums looking for a thread that covers a good first-timer's dose orally, but cannot find one.

My dog weighs about 160 lbs and he was packing 600 mg caps of kratom. He was told to start out with 2-4 grams. He tried that and it wasn't enough for a threshold buzz. He had no previous opiate tolerance and found that 8-9 grams was a pleasant dosage.

My dog wishes to pack the same gel's with the kava. He is experienced with many other substances and enjoys a heavier buzz. He also understands that he can redose kava..? What would be a good dosage to start out with for 40% kava kava powder, and if that's not enough what's a good amount to increase when he redoses?

Thanks in advance.

It would help if your pooch stated what he expects from kava? It's a mild sedative and like most such substances it induces either mild euphoria, sleep or alcohol-type intoxication followed by the worst hangover your dog will ever reminisce about at the retirement kennel. The latter requires mega-dosing though, we're talking pounds here, or many extract capsule bottles. Your dog probably doesn't want that.

If Rover is tired kava will make him sleep, in this regard it can be surprisingly potent and Rover may order a sidedish of caffeine tablets (200mg should do) to offset sleep if euphoria is the desired objective. But Rover would be better off taking kava while wide awake. Redosing is not only possible but recommended since not all dogs react to kava the same way, and that there are many strands of kava of varying potencies. Your Saint Bernard need not worry about OD'ing, as stated above hangover from Hell is supposedly the worst that can happen.
