Apparently this book tells of an easy do at home process of turning opium from garden poppies to oxycodone.

I dont buy it.

Anyone ever read the book?

It's true, except the easy part. Unless you have a few thousand dollars of equip. and organic chemistry experience, it's near impossible. Who ever said this isn't about addiction is an idiot.

Making Oxycodone from poppies is not an easy process that can be done in a kitchen, Period.

Firstly the Thebaine alkaloid must be isolated from the other alkaloid. The Thebaine alkaloid must then be converted through several stages until it is Oxycodone. This was actually found by accident by a scientist who was trying to turn the Thebaine structure into the Codeine structure because the two molecular structures are simmilar. The result of trying to make Codeine from Thebaine was Oxycodone.

The previous poster was right except for a few things. Not a few thousand dollars of equipment, but many thousands of dollars. A full Chem-Tech laboratory is required.
