Injecting - Vein years later

I know someone who injected powdered cocaine a few times. She snorted for a couple of years but spent 1.5 years smoking crack with occasional powder usage and IV use before quitting. She hasn't used cocaine or any other hard substance in 3 years.

She has a vein on the inside of her right elbow that is larger and more prominent than it was before the brief IV use. A health tech had to take a blood sample one day and said it was odd and didn't know why the vein did that. ( The tech had no knowledge of the IV use ). She does remember one occasion where it seemed like the vein bubbled up after shooting.

She is curious to know if those handful of shots ( perhaps 5 ) really did permanent damage to her vein. Also, she is fairly certain she did not allow the shot to cool as much as she probably should have, being very ignorant of how to inject properly.
