Combinations - why do people take soma with their painkillers?

swim hears a LOT about this combo.. soma's just a muscle relaxer. If people are doing it to get high, what effects does the soma add to the opies?

apparently you only need a small amount of codeine taken with soma to really catch a nod (swim has no Heroin tolerance anymore.. those days of slamming a jab a day are way behind swim and swim hopes to never see those dark and dreary days again).. maybe one day swim will experiment with codeine and soma.. be careful though if tried.. mixing opiates.. even codeine with alcohol or anithistamines or the best.. soma.. is asking for trouble....

I know this is an old post, but I didn't see any other recent ones about it and Swim has told me alot about this combo. Swim says that 700 mg of Soma, which is two pills, is a very nice high in itself and is unlike any other painkiller. Swim would prefer a Soma high to 10 Codeine highs, and Swim says that when you combine it with any Opiate, it makes it much more intense. It potentiates every opiate he has tried and it is a definite must for any recreational opiate use.

It intensifies the effects of most opiates. Well, all opiates actually, so far as my panda can tell. In particular, it makes you nod harder.

Because Carisoprodol (Soma) is metabolized in the liver via the cytochrome P450 oxidase isozyme CYP2C19, it allows for a smaller dose of an opioid to have a given effect. It effectively compromises the body's ability to metabolize opioids, thus allowing them to circulate longer in the bloodstream. It is worth noting that this comes at a price: A considerable proportion of carisoprodol is metabolized to meprobamate, which is a known drug of abuse and dependence. Also In recreational drugs users, deaths have resulted from carelessly combining overdoses of hydrocodone and carisoprodol.

SWIM has found that the best combo, for the reasons described above, is about 2 Somas and 2 10mg Vicodins or Hydros. SWIM does note that if SWIY has a higher tolerance to either, it may take a little more of either, however SWIM would definitely suggest to start out no higher than 2 and 2 or 2 Soma and 1 Vicodin, as at that dosage you are much less likely to experience any traverse side effects.

SWIM will warn, however, that one should be cautious with Soma and when any Swimmer feels they need anything more than 5 (even 5 could be pushing it) to get high, that they risk ODing and falling into a Coma and even Death. SWIM's brother-in-law died this way many years ago. SWIM still remembers it. He had gotten to the point where he needed something like 20 350mg Somas to feel anything. One day, he popped the 20 he was still needing and fell into a Coma and died. He was about 19.

SWIM also knew a girl, an itty bitty of a thing, that had FIVE Somas and started convulsing. SWIM actually had to take her to the hospital because her friends were too scared they'd get in trouble or that she'd get in trouble. The hospital had to pump her stomach with charcoal and said if she hadn't been brought in, she would have died.

SWIM likes Soma, but never takes more than 3. The day SWIM needs more than 3 is the day SWIM quits Soma.

Sorry for the rant, SWIM just has a very big love/hate relationship with the drug.

Swim will layer on around three 350mg Soma's on to of up to 240mg of oxycontin to keep a strong buzz going throughout the day........not dick sizing here....just swims tolerence..........
It's a skeletal muscle relaxer,swim believes that this is better than say........Flexeril that is a muscle relaxer also but is more likely to stop swims diaphragm from working and suppress breathing function to nil............

Just for reference, Fred has never even taken a whole soma at once (not kidding). That is how scared/ much respect Fred has for those things. He will just cut one in half. 175 mg of Soma is more than enough to potentiate the hell out of a 10 mg Hydrocodone pill.

Short answer: swim is not a junkie and is not looking to become one. Soma is a whole monster all its own, complete with addiction and dependance issues. Unless one is prescribed soma for a medical issue, it should be used sparingly if at all. It cannot be considered just another potentiator like tums or grapefruit juice.

Yep, swim agrees wholeheartedly, swim has a very high opiate tolerance, but one day a couple years back, he took 2 somas with only 20mg of oxy, next thing he knows he's waking u with his face down in his nachos at a Mexican Restaurant!!! lol So, yeah, be careful with those damn things! They dont call it a "soma-coma" for nothing!
