Opinions - Why Do People use Psychedelics?

My Monkey wants to know:

"What makes you enjoy them? What is it about them that attract such a wide amount of people to doing them? I have not done a psychedelic, and have been planning on taking LSD for a while now, probably this summer, and I am wondering why you take these powerful drugs, just to see the diversity between everyone and their views."

SWIY is smart by reading up first. The decision to delve into the psychedelic realm should not be taken lightly. SWIM finds LSD is a powerful tool to gain personal insight. She is able to look at things from a different perspective. Sometimes she finds that with the help of LSD she is able reach a deeper understanding of herself and the world around her. LSD is a powerful tool. Tool being the key word. One must go in with the intention of gaining insite or none will be found. Besides LSD allows her to see that the world around her is truely amazing and beautiful. She sometimes forgets this. Should SWIY choose to take the trip SWIM wishes you a pleasant journey!

Well, in swim's way it causes drastic changes in perception and thought patterns, patterns which is reflected by psychedelics reputation to facilitate the mental understanding of patterns and relations throughout nature, which is the reason it causes the mind to be so creative.

Swim gets an ultimate high out of LSD because he is so amazed at what he can see and do. Because he gets a buzz out of the amazement, its a very natural high, most other drug highs feel artificial. LSD makes swim realize how lucky he is to be living in such a nice world and such a good country (even if it is run by assholes). LSD taught swim to not take things for granted. Also swim loves to daydream about previous trips when hes sober and bored

Why do people race cars? Why do they drink, smoke, jump out of planes with a parachute? Why do people climb cliffs, drive too fast, or bungee jump? Why do people ride roller coasters? Why does one sock always seem to disappear? Where are my keys? Which way to next whiskey bar? How many licks does it take to get to the center? Hehehe

It helps you learn about yourself and figure out why and what happens all the time. It helps you remember past memories and unlock the dark secrets you hide from yourself and dont even know that you have them. And suddenly they bring these secrets up right in front of you and make see all you try to hide from yourself. It makes you become a better person by wanting to change these flaws you didnt even know you had. They are very helpful. Swim would recomend a small LSD-25 dose for a first psychedelicious trip.

why do people endevour on psychedelic journeys? It's a journey. A vacation to an exotic place is nice and all, but it's not cheap. LSD? cheap. Plus it gives one a perspective previously unimaginable. Swim learned to be able to pick up on all the smallest things in life. For a half hour swim stared into a dandilion, which he's seen millions over the years, and took time to appriciate its complexity. It makes life interesting again.

Swim uses psychedelics to expand his mind and gain as much insight from the trip as possible. Also to have a good time with friends and to delve into conversations that wouldn't arise in any other state.

Seeing some trippy things is always good as well!

Swim uses LSD because he and his friends finds it very fun. Also because he has learned a great deal about himself during and especially after a trip, and this has changed swims life for the better. And last but not least, because swim is trying to become an artist and trips have boosted his creativity exponentially.

Unlike many (most?) others, SWIM never tripped on 'cid for personal insight, deeper understanding, or spiritual growth. Although many be skeptical, SWIM actually found alcohol, at random and unexpected times, to be much more beneficial in such endeavors.

SWIM took LSD for the incredible mind-blowing/fucking experience he always had, and the intense euphoria he would sometimes have. To some extent, SWIM took LSD just for the crazy kicks and adventure it would inevitably lead to. SWIM submits that no other drug on god's green planet would have allowed SWIM to hit a golf ball over 7 miles off the tee into the cockpit window of a B-52 landing at a nearby air force base. SWIM wouldn't have thought such a super-human feat of strength and coordination to be possible, if not for LSD.

SWIM submits there is nothing that compares to LSD, and unlike every other drug experience of SWIM's, LSD has to be experienced to be believed, and cannot be adequately put into words.
