Opinions - ritalin worked, adderall no effect why??

My friend spent 3 mo on Concerta gradually raising dose to 36 mg twice a day and 10 mg at night............and finally said all the right things to get switched to the so called "wonder" drug Adderall...........and first day 10 mg XR... nothing...........second day took 20mg, till day five 50 mg crushed Adderall...... mild focus, no euphoria and no comedown problems she thought would be after 50 mg??? WTF? WTF?? guess my friends chemistry lacked the receptors.

back to Concerta where she is nice and focused and speeeeedyyy on about 90 mg crushed.

so..... Why no high on addy and very high on ritalin? maybe different receptors for each med.

She did do crank in the past but only for a weekend straight and not too much of it. Did she burn out receptors for Addy?

also...... she did alot of coke and smoked crack for a 3 month binge, alot of use....... 8 yrs ago, and stopped. Now she can still get high on ritalin which uses the same receptors as coke she thinks.

maybe swiy can shed some light here?? please

HMMMM swim thinks that it could possibly be due to the fact that it is Adderal extended release so it would take longer for the body to metabolize it as compared to Ritalin.

Although from what SWIM has done in the past SWIM knows that the white and Tweak and the rock did not alter the feeling of adderal for SWIm. But who knows maybe SWIY reacts to a particular substance differently.
This is just what SWIM thinks could be the reason hope that helps a lil

Its possible that she naturally has a high tolerance to amphetamine/stimulants. maybe she wait about a week and increase the dose... Be very careful when increasing the dose without experience to the drug.

Well, first, they're different chemicals with different mechanisms of action. They're absorbed differently and metabolized differently and under different conditions (health, bio-chemical state). They affect different receptors and bind differently to the receptors usual transporters, whose natural presence and abundance depends on the individual. The after-effects of the substances on the requisite bio-chemical state of the user are different and the body seems to restore it less easily from amphetamines.

Why would you expect them to have similar highs in the first place?

The highs are so different anyways. Many times swim gets nothing from adderall he suspects is due to lack of absorption. Additionally notice inflammation sites are exacerbated under adderall: It raises serum corticosteroid levels and other adrenal hormones, thus decreasing the neurological response to adderall's actions on norepinepherine -- increasing physiological stress rather than increasing mental happiness. Can even make allergies worse. Solution? Try it with a small dose of klonz. Works for swim about everytime now.

Don't take my word for it. Take adderall when you have a rash or joint pain or some such and notice the rash gets worse, the pain is more bothersome, etc. Take it in good health and it works fine. Take adderall when excessively stressed emotionally and it won't do crap (prolly make it worse). Seems to work better off the brains pleasure-reward system meaning a state of happiness prior to use is conducive.

Ritalin does not have these problematic side effects, IMO.

Last words on the issue. Should wait at least past the half-life and excretion period of either substance before using the other in sequence. Swim's rule of thumb is two weeks from the one substance before using the other substance. Think about it. An agonist with a reuptake inhibitor? So you release less of the transporters under the RI while increasing the receptor sites to make up for it under the agonist? That would lead to a dopamine/Nor-epinphrine shortage big time. Increased tolerance and decreased sensitivity. Less high.

This is some educated guess work here, though. Seems reasonable.

I heard from a pharmacist once that they got alot of complaints about the amphetamine IR generic blue-pills.

Said people were saying they had no effect and tasted like sugar.

The pharmacist double checked with his doctor and the drug company and found out that they were most definetly the 'proper' ones, legit.

SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO SWIM. SWIM just can't get high off Adderall no matter what she does to it, how she takes it, how much she takes it, or anything else. But when SWIM took Concerta it was AMAZING! Does your friend have ADD/ADHD or anything?
