Finally off heroin after almost 4 years - nothing different

SWIM just got out of a 2 month rehab after almost 4 years of daily heroin use. The detox part was hard as hell, and SWIM was seriously fucked up for about a month after his last usage.

Then SWIM went back to "normal," that is, how he always remembered feeling, and realizes pretty much everything he felt, said and did on heroin were his true feelings. There was no loss of control or mental disconnect caused by the drug like so many say. About 99% of the negative shit that heroin gets blamed for comes from the life style - namely the expense, the lack of money which comes in time, and the persecution by law enforcement and society.

SWIM will admit that the world feels different without heroin (in a difficult to describe way), and SWIM isn't compelled to do it right now like he was, but being on heroin definitely wasn't worse than being sober, and SWIM wants to get his financial life back on track first so he can start doing it again.

Just wanted to affirm all the things SWIM said about heroin as an addict, as a sober person now. SWIM still believes it should be legal.

P.S. Glad to be back on DF and missed the shit out of all you!
