Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet/Hieroglyphics Vision on Trip
Multiple times, swim has witnessed to the best of what can be describe an alien alphabet.
It'll overlay on the carpet, ceiling, and one time he even saw it in the clouds. It's been exactly the same symbols, on multiple different scenarios, different trips, different mushies. He's wondering if anyone else has seen these hieroglyphics, alien alphabet, etc. If so, if anyone has drawn them down, it'd be completely awesome because he really want to see what he saw. The designs are intensely intricate, yet, smooth, and simple at the same time. Some say they reminisce of Aztec hieroglyphics, however, only few similarities from what he's noticed, the symbols with a Bar, with 2 circles on the left side, the circles are dominant amongst most of the designs. He made a photoshop, of how they look, the appearance of the overlay, so you can get a rough idea of what he's talking about. The drawing he had made is however completely inaccurate to what they really look like. ![]() I hope someone has drawn down these symbols while tripping, and can post them on here, it'd be awesome. Thanks! Last edited by Heretic.Ape.; 19-04-2009 at 01:12. Reason: swimming |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
My monkey thinks he knows what you are talking about. He used to see those all the time on mushrooms and used to look at paper until he could see them clearly and try to trace them. Unfortunately he does not know what happend to his old tracings of them. It would indeed be interesting if multiple people traced them and compared notes

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Many people experience these visuals when they use psychedelics. My theory is that they are reflections from the blood vessels of the eyelids, that whilst on a psychedelic, start to take form as recognisable symbols seeing as we are highly advanced pattern-seeking animals. There's a consistency in pre-historic art all over the world that displays this.

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Nature Boy, I think you're onto something...
This has been a particularly interesting phenomena regarding some of the more consistent effects that psychedelics elicit across numerous separate individuals, cross-culturally, and over time. One has had the pleasure of having long, drawn-out conversations on possible biological substrates for this activity - and I feel that my cohorts and I may have come up with something compelling... Please, let me know what you all think! Also, please forgive any tediously redundant information - I'm doing my best to craft a biological argument! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our visual pathways are highly complex, and offer mechanisms for modulation at many different levels. There are two dominant paradigms that are commonly utilized to describe the processing of information in the visual system; bottom-up, and top-down. To consider it from the bottom-up perspective: An example - our photo-receptors (cones specifically) are essentially structured to absorb photons at wavelengths corresponding to Red, Green, and Blue wavelengths of light - depending on the particular cell, and will vary from cell to cell. Therefore, the field of vision is formed by a tapestry of impulses derived from stimulation by environmentally derived photons, encoded in occipital-lobe neurons as recognizable shapes and motions. The neurotransmitter serotonin, directly implicated in most of the psychoactive effects of more commonly administered psychedelics (and compounds with psychedelic properties), has a modulatory role for any given cone cell's photo-sensitivity to subtle changes characterizing the interaction of environmental photons with the photo-receptor cone cell To consider a top-down approach: The occipital lobe receives a wealth of inputs from visual sensory cells, and importantly, also supplies outputs to the circuits of the brain that have been identified as recruited in 'consciousness'. The primary functions of these pathways is to encode the barrage of visual information in the form of impulses coming from the photo-receptors on the retina into recognizable, workable visual information. We have evolved to actually have specific populations of neurons in the occipital lobe that will respond for particular shapes and angles. These cells, called simple cells in the visual cortex, respond to particular orientations and edges of visual stimuli; when a given shape is encountered in the environment, one will have a repertoire of neurons active in response to the specific orientation and nature of the shape, while other neurons in the visual cortex will not respond. Additionally, complex cells have an even less specifically defined range of activity that will correspond to a given visual stimulus. Therefore, one makes sense of the visual sensory information in the occipital lobe by categorizing it into recognizable orientations and motions. Optical illusions are a wonderful example of how these top-down processes can be fooled due to biological predispositions - our structural neurobiology is such that our nervous systems do their best to anticipate future events in the environment. In this anticipation, mistakes can often be made at the neurological level which can only be revealed upon fully-conscious inspection of the visual field with one's undivided attention (a rare event). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of that goble-di-gook to support this point: this exquisitely elegant system is easily fooled (given an appropriate dose of one's psychedelic of choice, of course ). Due to the fact that serotonin is implicated in the sensitivity of the bottom-up transduction of photo-receptors on the retina, serotonin agonists (both direct and indirect - from LSD to the 2Cs) should function to generally excite the activity of such photo-receptors. It might be therefore inferred that an overall enhancement of serotonergic activity could generate a general visual stimulation - experienced as a sort of colorful sparkle or warm fuzz that surrounds sources of visual contrast. Lights at a rave, for example, might take on the appearance of 'colorful webbing'. This would be an example of the psychedelic's effects at a bottom-up level of processing, affecting an individual's perception of the visual field. However, such activity would have down-stream consequences. Due to the consistent 'encoding' activity of visual cortex neurons, the overall photo-receptor excitation would likely translate to the spontaneous perception of shapes and alignments, occurring almost randomly - but subject, of course, to subtle variations in the stimulus quality of various visual events. This would translate to the perception of seemingly recognizable shapes and patterns projected onto surfaces that present undefined angles and abstract edges; a shaggy carpet or a pop-corn ceiling would generate an extremely high level of these top-down derived, occipital lobe projections. Given the significance of language to every individual's daily routine, the perception of actual words or lingual characters wouldn't be surprising. In more concise terms; due to the fact that our brains have evolved to anticipate commonly encountered shapes and edge-orientations in our environment, psychedelics might then act to temporarily distort the mechanism that normally inhibits a brain's projection of perceived-reality in times of sobriety, allowing for a higher degree of cognitive and perceptive projection onto the sensory environment by the brain due to anticipated visual events. If my vague description of bottom-up and top-down visual processing was simply too cumbersome to read, I found a nice and concise website that communicates the essentials better than I'd ever anticipate being able to (illusions and all): http://mozglubov.blogspot.com/2008/1...in-visual.html I hope that my clumsy post doesn't quell interest in this subject; I find it to be one of the most relevant and significant lessons that psychedelics might teach humans about the way their brains actually see the universe. Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
I strongly believe that these edge-orientated illusions are not simply such, SWIM has not looked through many hieroglyphics in his life, maybe once or twice on discovery channel, and they never sunk in SWIMs memory, and given the fact how little SWIMs seen them, I'd suggest they've barely sunk in SWIMs sub-conscious if at all.
These characters, hieroglyphs, alien alphabet, whatever you may call it, are far to intricate to be designed by the simple sub-conscious of the mind. These symbols are particularly interesting according to SWIM, and they have a *consistency*, SWIM has walked from one room to the other, and returned to his original place, and the same symbol has been in the same place, along with the rest, SWIM says they do not move. These signs, are far more then just simple illusions generated by patterns, ISWIMHOs. Anyways, I'd really like to see if any alien's have drawn these down, and can share them with us. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Perhaps they did sink into SWIY's memory after all, or maybe they are a way of SWIY deciphering stuff.
My friend was tripping one evening and saw a chimney billowing out jigsaw pieces, black and white then vivid colour... no two exactly the same. She thinks that this was fragments of her life... childhood specifically as Father Christmas was there too. Anyway maybe this symbolism is SWIY's way? |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Well, SWIM knows that this is not something that came from his mind, because SWIM cared less about hieroglyphics, they never crossed his mind whilst experiencing psilocybin, yet, on *multiple* occasions these symbols have returned for SWIM, they remain in the same spot, they do not tumble about and they do not resemble a typical hallucination, as one might see on salvia, these are consistent from SWIMs report, and he has been struck by awe on how these alphabets have magically appeared. They consist of the same symbols everytime, and SWIM reports that they do not look anything like any other pattern, or hieroglyph SWIM has ever seen, SWIM recently looked at Aztec hieroglyphs to compare, and there is maybe a 2% comparison ratio.
SWIM believes this is phenomena, and that this altered conscious allows time to stand still, and to see designs of highly complex yet simple hieroglyphs, if rightfully called so. Bottom line, I'd like to see if SWIY has any of these drawn down, to compare to SWIM's reports. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
That's pretty much the extent of "hallucinations" of tripping shrooms on about a half 8th-2.5 grams of shrooms. One does not see things that aren't there, rather, one sees the "alien alphabet" superimposed on the wall, ceiling, carpet, etc. Of course, there is also the emotive aspect as well, not just the visual, and greater visuals is correlated with the emotive aspect. Meaning, one can't hope for more visiuals while feeling still "slightly sober," there isn't a trade off between the intensity of visuals and intensity of mental cognitive feeling.
Of course, in higher doses, like 3.5 grams (an 8th) the cognitive thinking can become linked with the visuals. SWIM fell to the floor, got up, didn't remember colapsing, thought swim had bashed his head in the wall. Before colapsing SWIM put glasses down and when SWIM saw them after getting up they looked bent and destroyed, because SWIM thought SWIM had bashed his head in the wall. Needless to say, SWIM does not like doing 8ths, will never do anything over an 8th. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
SWIM has seen golden genies(light orbs) in the reflection of the city cast upon the sea. MDMA depending on the compound, acid base, opiate base, cocaine base, or methamphetamine base can indeed pronounce some gitty happy visuals.
However, this is not the story with shrooms. SWIM obviouslly has pyschological affects whilst on mushrooms, time slows down, etc. SWIM had a bad trip after he ate a quarter ounce while in a bad mood, and the walls breathed at him and threatened to eat him and send him into a infinite hole of insanity, SWIM fought very hard not to become permafried. There was no happy hieroglyphs this time. The drawings SWIM posted, are completely guesses of what he saw, for it has been over a year since SWIM has played with doomers. However, SWMI will show you the ones he is almost positive he saw, atleast something extremely similar to the image SWIY has posted. ![]() SWIM agrees that the red cirlced one, looks very very familiar. SWIM says that the alien letters, typically do not have anything inside of the hieroglyph itself, the inside is empy and it is typically only borders of it that make the glyph, unlike here; ![]() Interesting though, there is quite some similarities in that picture according to SWIM. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Perfectly fine to say it's part of the brain, you could be right, and you're entitled to your opinion, skeptical minds round for conservative explanation.
However, I'm a spiritual person, and SWIM has not touched pot, let alone alcohol or any other mind altering substance in over 4 months. I've had an OOBE, I being sober. And it was not a regular OOBE, I saw everything exactly the way it is, then I woke up, looking at what I was seeing, exactly what I was seeing with my eyes closed. I believe the skeptical mind only shows as much insecurity as someone who believes in a faith. You don't have sufficient evidence to make just claims that something extraordinary did occur, as we do not have evidence of these glyphs being anything more than a pattern. Bottom line -- thanks for the speculation, but I really just want to see if anyone has wrote these things down. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
I agree my post was silly but sometimes it's nice to entertain ones imagination. My father taught science at a University and I was raised in a strict scientific enviroment where there was only fact and figures. I found Gradients post intriguing as I have been reading alot about innate or inherent knowledge that could be held and passed down at a cellular level. There is a great book 'The Cosmic Serpant/DNA And The Origins Of Knowledge' by Jeremy Narby that deals with this theory. Possibly we have been looking for answers with a telescope when we should have been using a microscope.

I saw them in the clouds too! I would assume the mushroom's just "trigger" our brain's natural desire to find patterns. Fun to look at either way!

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Swims turtle once upon aa time was very high on escaline, and while sitting around the woodstove saw similiar alphabets in the embers of the logs. To him at the time, it seemed he was seeing every letter of every alphabet ever known.
But for swims turtle this was a one time experience as far as he remembers. He has had other recurring hallucinations, which seemed to be things that held some importance to him when first discovered, and he's always felt that recurring hallucinations were just that- related to something he found important when first seen- so his brain tried to work through it again whenever it had the chance. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
SWIM can't recall having seen 'hieroglyphs' or 'alien writing' as such, but often sees Roman letters (i.e. letters like these) while tripping or pilling, sometimes arranged into words - usually nonsense - sometimes not.
In fact he remembers some interesting visuals from last New Year's party (piperazines, MDMA, strong weed) that seemed at the time to be the letters A,C,T and G flowing past in seemingly random order, like base-pairs forming part of a genetic sequence. Which was pretty cool. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
The Good Knight Sir Tokesalot hasn't seen hieroglyphic visions but has had the experience of speaking in tongues. He was out very far indeed and was no longer in control, and his body was simply doing stuff in of itself, with no conscious drive or motive behind his actions.
Among flailing around, bleating like a sheep, gnashing his teeth like an angry crocodile, and twisting like a trapped serpent, he was also babbling in a strange, forgotten mushroom language. The details of this language are lost in a bemushroomed fog but it did have a strange inner mushroom logic and consistency, i.e. there were patterns in it which resembled patterns containing pertinent information. Once again this was simply something that the Good Knight's body was doing, he was not in control and it wasn't shown specifically to him, but was simply happening through him. It wasn't accompanied by corresponding visions but then again he was out so far that any meaningful exchange of information between him and the Mushroom was no longer possible. "Self" was not even a remotely remembered concept. The arbitrary association between meaning and symbol in a psychedelic experience is not uncommon though regardless of how it manifests itself. It's simply yet another facet of the whole "entity contact" experience. Whether this is simply induced schizophrenia and personality fragments independently communicating to each other, or parietal lobe seizures that have been linked to God-contact experiences (no references here so could be faulty memory), or simply internal feedback noise passing through the brain's pattern-recognition machinery gone haywire - it is a very common occurrence regardless and has probably played a very key role in the origins of primitive religions. The Good Knight is beginning to think that primitive religions were not a attempts at coming to grips with mortality or early explanations for the workings of the universe but rather were practical eyewitness accounts of psychedelic experiences. As far as trying to connect this phenomenon to aliens or supernatural beings - Sir Tokesalot is not really into that. The information that the Mushroom has shared with the Good Knight has so far been exceptionally meaningful, pertinent, and absolutely correct, but the origins of said information could have just as easily been his subconscious rather than some strange alien or supernatural mushroom entity. Ancient forgotten mushroom creatures are pretty cool but the idea that superhuman subconscious wisdom could be unlocked through a simple chemical stimulus is even more interesting. |

Re: Mushrooms - Alien Alphabet / Hieroglyphics vision on trip
Jimmy took an "ecstasy" pill (unknown contents, but it sure wasn't MDMA) one time along with piracetam (earlier in the day). While he was sitting on the sofa, black symbols appeared in the air. They were initally arranged in a semi-circular pattern along the periphery of his visual field. To his amazement, they then came together and arranged themselves in the center of his visual field to form some kind of written linguistic expression. Jimmy did not interpret them as alien symbols, but instead likened them to elven runes. The closest real-world example of what they looked like would be arabic script. They did not seem to contain any meaning, or maybe he just didn't try hard enough to interpret any meaning. They hovered in mid-air for a few seconds and then disappeared.
