So a friend wants to try speed...
my friend "Larry the goat" wants to try speed sooo bad. he has tried everything else, with the exception of Shrooms (too expensive where he lives) and now he wants to try speed because where Larry is from (northern Cali) he doesn't know anyone who has touched the stuff and been the same since.
Lerry feels immune to addiction and doesn't think that Meth can grab ahold of him. is he wrong? swims? |

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
well is Speed really THAT ADDICTING? i've never tried it before but is it like a "one hit and ur hooked" type of thing or do u have to develope a habbit? Larry had this problem with coke. his friends couldn't get enough of it and he eventually lost three of them to coke overdoses.
Larry just wants try it, but not if the price he has to pay for an awesome ass high is his life. Larry lost his father to a Meth addiction and it completely destroyed his family...is this just one drug that shouldn't be fucked with? any Swims experienced in using the stuff that can give me advice? it would be greatly appreciated

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
Just some thoughts after reading this thread.
No drug has the do it once, your hooked for life capability. Some are more addictive than others (this would include meth) and its not like one will do it once and then immediately have a full blown addiction and doing it daily. However, some of these such as heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine can easily sneak up on someone. They will be doing it recreationally for a while and then bam its like a full blown addiction a month later. Also, if Larry doesn't know a single person that has tried methamphetamine and has been the same since, isn't that maybe a sign that shows how addictive the drug is? Furthermore, if Larry's dad was lost due to a meth addiction, then that might indicate one shouldn't mess with it. Does Larry have any addictive qualities or tendencies in his personality? If so, Red Rock recommends that Larry doesn't mess with meth. |

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
SWIM has never taken speed to his knowledge. Once SWIM's friend owed SWIM money and since he didn't have it SWIM's friend gave him a bump of what he called speed to hold him over. SWIM blacked out from drinking a bottle of kettle one vodka so doesn't know if it was what it was or was not what it was supposed to be. That being said, what is the best way to try speed if doing so for the first time?

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
SWIM takes an amphetamine prescription at a reasonably high dose. He has ran out of pills on occasion, its not a huge deal (except to his school work :/). He has taken street pills many times, he can tell the difference between "Meth-Bombs" and "MDMA". Its hardly addicting if taken orally, nasally a little higher. Smoking and IV, now thats a different story... In swim's opinion, a more massive amphetamine rush compared to oral or nasal routes would be unpleasant :/
SWIM really suggests SWIY trys to find "ecstacy" pills, MDMA is a whole lot better than meth. If SWIY realizes that the drug can have its purpose, he will be fine. I assume you havn't felt an addiction before, but its not super easy to fall. Its a matter of will coupled with availability. SWIM bought 10 pills (Turned out to be meth bombs) and he kept them around for two months... he would use them at parties and special occasions. Cigarettes, on the other hand, are vicious! << availability, social acceptability, legality, and a bad association between nicotine and energy puts SWIM through hoops. "Lerry feels immune to addiction and doesn't think that Meth can grab ahold of him. is he wrong?" Yes. Methamphetamine hits hard. It starts with perpetuating the high, but quickly gets worse. Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
Swim has never felt so amazed at the euphoria one drug can offer until he got a hold of some dextroamphetamine. Swim knows a lot of people who would rather have downers though. It just depends on the person. And is swiy willing to take that risk? Swim's been without speed for a month and he's okay. And he's never stolen anything to support his habit. Which has never been 'too' bad. But everybody's different.

Just a note. Amphetamine and methamphetamine are not the same.
Amphetamine (speed) is just like caffeine but stronger. Methamphetamine will fuck you hard. |

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
I know meth is significantly stronger. But are you kidding? Caffeine doesn't compare at allllllllll to amphetamine for swim. Amphetamine = extreme mental high. And the body high of caffeine doesn't compare to the body high of amphetamine at all. Swim has never stayed up for 5 days because of caffeine.

Drugs like meth and mdma have something else.. more than the 'plain' upper feeling of speed. Get me? |

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
My pet ghost has used speed many times, mostly recreationally and a couple of times to keep him going during times of educational stress. He's never had any problems with the drug, unless he smokes hefty amounts of weed with it. The two combined seem to send him to a nasty, paranoid place.

Re: So a friend wants to try speed...
Not at all because amphetamines don't have any sort of plain upper feeling for swim. Swim prefers amphetamines to cocaine and methylphenidate by far. There is a LOTTTTT of euphoria in amphetamines for swim. It's very psychedelic for him. A very very VERY focused, euphoric, music enhancing state. With enhanced social ability and pain tolerance. Plus a complete loss of appetite. Swim's sense of time is completely altered and he can zone out into certain tasks for days.
I'm not questioning that meth would be stronger. But from swim's point of view, it sounds like swiy doesn't give it enough credit or have good experiences with it. Maybe he has an extra high tolerance and only meth does the trick? Swim used to get really good highs off methylphenidate. But no more since he tried amphetamine. |
