Increase Tramadrol Effects
Swim has only 50 mg of Tramadol left. What are SWIMS best options:
1. Snort the tramadol (SWIM does not know if this is recommended, will wait for replies). 2. Take 6 Kava Kava pills with the tram 3. Hope for the best and take 50 mg on empty stomach. Thanks! |

In this case, grapefruit juice may unfortunately not be a viable method of potentiation. Since Tramadol is a completely synthetic opiate, the cytochrome family of enzymes aren't responsible for the degradation of the compounds - rather, these enzymes generate several (five, I believe) different compounds as metabolites that have varying affinities for the mu-opioid receptor. A close friend of mine tried this combination, and was shocked at the fact that the expected effects were so inhibited. I do, however, think that there may be something to the timing regarding the potentiation of Tramadol with grapefruit juice (or cimetidine - any cytochrome inhibitor). For example, if the cytochrome inhibitor is ingested prior to administration of the Tramadol - conversion of the Tramadol to the compounds with generous opioid activity would be reduced. However, these cytochrome enzymes are theoretically the same ones that degrade the metabolites after they've elicited their effects. Therefore, inhibiting these enzymes subsequent to ingesting Tramadol (lets say about 45 mins), might reduce the degradation of the metabolites of Tramadol - thereby prolonging and enhancing the effects of the metabolites of Tramadol at the opioid receptor. I've read no study that confirms this - I'd love to hear some members' opinions! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BigDonJuan73, 1. Snorting Tramadol wont enhance its bioavailability, as it is manufactured to be quite effective orally. waynemart is absolutely right - insufflating the substance would likely be extremely unpleasant. Also, along the same logic, crushing the tablets into powder to ingest orally hasn't proven to be a significant enhancer either. They taste aweful! In terms of things that one might do with the tablets; simply breaking a single tablet into several pieces will slightly expedite the onset. 2. Taking kava kava might be nice, but it would likely be an unanticipated effect. Kava has been shown to block the uptake of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine - an excitatory neurotransmitter, widely responsible for initiating our fight-or-flight behavior. This is the neurotransmitter associated with an 'adrenaline rush'. Aside from being an opiate, Tramadol is an SSNRI, which means that it also enhances the amount of both norepinephrine and serotonin. Therefore, I would be weary of combining the two; one might run the risk of increasing seizure-susceptibility to a level above threshold, and have a markedly un-relaxing set of circumstances to deal with. Low doses of both, however, might be harmless and pleasurable - however, the fundamental interaction of these two compounds would be to generate an overall general behavioral stimulation. Along the same lines, never combine Tramadol with psychedelics; serotonin syndrome is an extremely strange, dangerous, and terrifying state-of-consciousness that will result from this combination. 3. This isn't a bad bet. Tramadol is strikingly orally bioavailable - and the strange thing is that, unlike the development of a metabolic tolerance to opiates, long-term Tramadol administration actually induces a metabolic sensitization. Since prolonged opiate administration causes an up-regulation of the digestive cytochrome enzymes in the liver, natural and semi-synthetic opiate users (oxycodone, heroin, morphine, codeine) experience a depression of their sensitivity to the compounds because their liver has become more efficient at rendering the compounds inactive. Tramadol, however, is different. Prolonged use of this compound also elicits an up-regulation of the cytochrome enzymes, just as natural opiates do, but since Tramadol isn't initially rendered inactive by the enzymes - but rather metabolized into even more active metabolites - prolonged administration actually generates a heightened bioavailability of Tramadol. Therefore, if one has gone through a bottle of 30 tablets of Tramadol, one's body will be more sensitive to the 29th tablet than one was to the 1st. In other words, the environments in the stomach and liver aren't huge factors regarding the potency of this compound. If you read my above discussion with waynemart, I've been speculating that a well-timed administration of grapefruit juice (or cimetidine - packaged as Tagamet in drug most stores, next to the Pepcid) about 30-45 mins subsequent to ingestion of Tramadol should amplify the potency of a small dose of this substance with considerable efficacy. I've been waiting for an interaction study to come out to justify this belief, but until that happens, it'll remain total speculation. Sorry to toss this anvil post at you, but this is a subject that I've been considering for a while. It's an atypical dynamic, so potentiating Tramadol wont be the same as other opiate compounds... |

Re: Increase Tramadrol Effects
Like I said in another thread, "Guide to harlessly potetiatiating Tramadol", forget cimetidine after the fact. the best way my friend says is to ingest with 5mg diazepam when the mu high kicks in.

Re: Increase Tramadrol Effects
SWIM finds that taking Tramadol with a Coke, Dr. Pepper, or any soda with Caffeine in it helps with the effects. SWIM does not know why and wonders if maybe it's just Psychological, but SWIM definitely notices a different when taking caffeine with it versus just water.

Re: Increase Tramadrol Effects
SWIM also notices smoking whilst taking tramadol increases the effect for SWIM ten fold - anybody know why this is?

Re: Increase Tramadrol Effects
SWIM's kitty agrees with johndoe, she finds that a big cup of coffee with her morning Tramadol helps it to kick in after half an hour.
