Shroom hunting Mushrooms Found in Parks/Grass

hey me and some friends picked some "magic mushrooms" at the park, we're not sure if they're psychedelic or not, but in general, are shrooms grown on lawns or grassy residential areas? thanks.

They could grow anywhere. thats why they have been around for thousands
of years. but before you go and 'eat' those 'magic mushrooms'...go
online and look them up make sure what you find on the net matches what
you guys got. there's lots of bad ones that can poison you and even
kill you. especially the death cap</span> which destroys your liver and the person dies on the 2nd day from eating it!!

What shrooms grow on depends on the species... psilocybe semilanceata
(Liberty caps) do grow in fertilized grass, especially in clumps of taller grass
(SWIM has good luck finding them near pine trees); as compared to say
psilocybe cubensis, which is typically found on crap in cow pastures, or
in poo-enriched dirt.

Like the post above says, be VERY careful in the identification... definitely
buy a guide, learn how to take a spore print.

They could hardly be psilocybe semilanceata at this time of year, could they? Maybe it's different in your corner of the globe, but I thought they only came up arounfd August/ September?

Semilanceata do pop up in spring around here (Pacific Northwest)
every now and then... but it's rare. They're much more common in the
fall, September seems to be the best month around here.

i'm located in northern california. The shrooms we picked didnt contain
any purple bruising, but more white/gray/brown colored. And since they
were growing in a park, we guessed that since the grass gets cut, they
cant fully mature. We haven't ate them yet though.

Don't hunt wild hallucinogenic mushrooms unless you are very skilled in mushroom identification. This is a skill that can take years to master.

Many hallucinogenic mushrooms have poisnous look alikes, some of these look alikes are deadly.

liberty caps in the uk will pop late aug to nov but in dry seasons mid sep 2 nov there easy identified there r similar lookalikes p pelliculosa is the 1 2 look out 4 ,there r very few deadly shrooms that resemble liberty caps in the uk watch when picking p cyancscens there is a very toxic speices which is hard 2 compare silvatica , galerina but stick 2 liberties but when ur hav gathered enough info and well equiped go 4 the p cyancscens most potent of all psilocybin species happy hunting ps always take some 1 with u who knows wat 2 pick but if u feel competent 2 go urself take a book with colour pics take spore prints there r plenty of sites to compare ur find use them
