Applying license to practice medicine?
Aloha ahiahi
![]() Swim has still 4 ore years of medical studys before he's going to apply for license to practice medicine. But nevertheless he has a question concerning this topic: In case of the police would catch swim with a really tiny tiny amount (only for swim's own and once application) of opiates like fentanyl now, what would happend to swim's study? Would he still get the chance to apply for the license in 4 years or would it be game over for him? Because swim knows that in every country the laws are different, swim doesn't expect an correct answer to his question, but he would like to know where or who in his own country he could ask about this topic where he could also expect professional secrecy? Thanks very much for your suggestions! solanaceous-herb added 3 Minutes and 1 Seconds later... Re: Applying license to practice medicine?
Well perhaps if we knew what country you were in we might be able to tell you. You could find out from the colllege of phycians in Canada. No idea about other places or professional secrecy. I do know that in my area of medicine (not doctor) in Canada you would lose your license and if you have a criminal record you can't get a license to practice eitther. It doesn't matter if it is drugs or a different crime in my field but again I am not a doctor and I have no wish to share my actual field because I don't want to be identified.

Re: Applying license to practice medicine?
Yeah, SWIY should never carry anything on you when in public unless SWIY could eat the dose without getting sick or dying and even then SWIY would have to know that they would even get the chance to do that. SWIY will ruin your chances of practicing medicine if SWIY were to get caught. Just don't risk it.

Re: Applying license to practice medicine?
The best advice that ANYONE doing drugs can get is to not carry drugs on you. Not in your car, in your bag, purse, pocket, socks, etc. Don't do drugs outside the privacy of your own home, and don't advertise your use to tons of people, even if they're your friends. (They could use it against you in the future if things go sour).
If you're really paranoid, avoid talking about drugs over the phone or on the internet, as both can be used against you in the event they were tapped. Most important is discretion...not having drugs on SWIYou out in public places, not driving under the influence, etc. If you've ever watched COPS, you'll notice that 99% of the people getting busted are doing something utterly retarded, like smoking weed in their car, walking around plastered out of their minds, or transporting eightballs of coke while speeding, swerving, and driving without a license. While drug laws royally SUCK, it's kinda hard to feel sorry for these poor morons sometimes ![]() As long as SWIYou realize that what you're doing now could alter your future for the rest of your life, SWIYou will be able to treat the situation with the respect it deserves. It'd be such a shame to throw away a medical career for a single misstep. |

Most professional regulatory boards have a confidential ethical question phone line to "ask about a friend." |
