Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) + Provigil (Modafinil) = Relaxing!

Hello, swim is new here and would like to share his experience.

His most recent interest is Vyvanse, which he is taking as an appetite suppressant and for general energy and focus. He finds 50mg of lisdexamfetamine to be very speedy, with a lot of energy and sociable feelings. In the past, he has tried Provigil brand of modafinil, and found it also wakes him up and puts him in general good spirits. Today, however, he has found that taking the two together has the exact opposite effect of speed for him.

He had taken his Vyvanse early in the day, and experienced the usual d-amphetamine feelings (faster heart rate, focusing on details, energy... nice feeling, although he finds propylhexedrine to actually be more euphoric, ironically lol). About 4 hours after taking the Vyvanse, he took 150mg of Provigil and a little caffeine. He found that within a half hour, his heart rate slowed, his mind and body relaxed, and he felt generally as though he had taken a low dose of clonazepam, but without the heavy 'Ah, isn't the world nice?' feeling. This fascinated swim, because often, Vyvanse or Provigil alone will give him insomnia and keep him awake!

He did some research on a few sites as well as DF, and swim found that this effect has been reported by others, although there are only a couple mentions of it here, without much consensus. One report on a psychoactives site said that the user felt this combination to be "xanaxish", which seems to be similar. Others, however, have reported that taking modafinil and amphetamine has resulted in potentiation. Swim read that modafinil might blunt the effect of cocaine, as well, but he thinks the mechanism is a bit of a mystery beyond there being some dopamine interaction? He is often amused and surprised by how often drugs are prescribed with little known about how they actually work! It's as though some doctors prescribe them and say, "You figure this out!"

So now, swim is relaxed and wanted to share, he is wondering if anyone else has tried these things and if they have felt similar effects, or if they have some insight on why it is that some experience stimulant potentiation while others feel as swim feels. He is prescribed Wellbutrin 300mg (bupropion), but has not taken it today and only took 150mg yesterday in anticipation of today, as he has heard that bupropion will take away the effects of other stimulants. Could it be that this is a cause, even without much bupropion in swim's system?

Anyway, nice to meet you all, swim looks forward to discussing everyone's experiences.
