Rubifen/Ritalin for studying over 8 weeks - how to pace it?
AFOAF's cat is really overwhelmed with the final year of its degree and has about 8 weeks to write 18,500 words, but still the pressure is not motivating the cat, it just wants to ignore the problems and laze in the sun, and then when it does do some work, it can spend 8 hours writing one paragraph (partially cos the lack of opposable thumb makes typing hard, but mainly because the cat just gets distracted by every possible source of distraction on offer)
The friend is waiting for the vet to deliver 60 x 20mg Rubifen (Ritalin) and was wondering what the best way to pace it is. The cat doesn't want to get high as such or worse still get dependant but it wants to optimise its remaining time and resources! The cat has never used any uppers before now and has no known underlying conditions and is not using any other meds or drug right now.
AFOAF thinks she should give the cat a really low dose (say half a 20mg pill?) orally on the first morning and see how much of an effect the cat notices.
AFOAF's just wondering how to dose the cat up for the 8 weeks, can the cat take it everyday or should there be breaks between to prevent tolerance? And what are everyone's thoughts on giving it one dose a day versus refuelling in the afternoon? AFOAF has read around the forum and blogs, but just doesn't know what the dosage should be in this particular 8 week long situation and wonders if anyone else's friends have used methylphenidate for studying over a more extended period than just week long cram sessions.
AFOAF and her cat would really appreciate your opinions and experience!
