Using stimulants for ADD

If someone would use therapeutically methylphenidate or amphetamines for ADD, only about 2-5 times a week, and eats healthy, sleeps correctly and exercising normally, and wouldnät use any other drugs, would there be any possible negative side-effects? Could this cause amphetamine psychosis, brain damage (or big changes on brains) or other bad things?

Re: Using stimulants for ADD

Speaking from past research and experience, SWIM says that it is very unlikely one would experience any horrible side effects like the ones mentioned. But of course everyone is different. It really depends on the dosage. If you're taking just enough to stay focused, then you'll probably only notice the minor things like lowered appetite, insomnia, and anxiety.
Keep the dosage as low as possible and SWIY should be fine.

Re: Using stimulants for ADD

I might be a bit of an exception, but for me less is more. From my experience the therapeutic effects begin before the more noticeable effects, the ones most often associated with craving/drug seeking (for me, the same therapeutic effects being to diminish when I take more noticeable doses). So finding what works, staying at that level for a while and then scaling back is what I ended up doing (after taking a brief 'drug holiday').

That's the long way of saying, if you can benefit from taking less you probably will minimize possible side effects.

Re: Using stimulants for ADD

It would mainly depend on the dose... If swiy uses low doses to improve focus for school/work, then there probably wouldnt be very much risk. But if swiy uses speed for fun 2-5 times a week, then yes, there probably would be negative side effects and those side effects would most likely be insomnia, weight loss, tolerance, personality change...

Re: Using stimulants for ADD

Amphetamine does little to your actual static brain, its quite harmless if not abused.

It might be somewhat uncomfortable to use in breaks, as your system will be somewhat depleted the next day and may only return to normal after a few days... If you are concerned with ADD but dont really feel its that pressing, SWIM would advise a really low dose of vyvanse (its a prodrug module, it takes longer to get fully into your system, the intake and outtake curves are nicer and steadier, and its much easier to get a doc to prescribe because its a prodrug) and if your still concerned, dont take it on weekends.
