Side effects - Ritalin and stimulant side effects

I take ritalin 10 mg a day for adhd it gives me heart palpitation and discomfort in the chest area im going to the docter on tuesday to disscus how its working if i tell her this will she switch my med or take me off adhd meds or are there adhd meds that dont have this side effect(straterra made me incredably angry everytime i took it i stoped it)

shit dude. call right away and tell the doc. you shouldnt take any more of them at all, you could have a really serious heart condition. you probably wont be prescribed more and should avoid all legal and illegal stimulants and get yourself to a heart specialist. good luck.

There's also the very good possibility that it's just anxiety/panic attacks. Either way, the ritalin is obviously causing or worsening it. Your doctor will decide what to do.

Mmm, hopefully, but until the poster is sure, they should be as cautious as possible in case they are dealing with something really serious.

Heart palpilation can bring up the thought: ' O shit, what the f*ck is this?' This can give you a bit of a worry or panic and makes it even worse! Panic and stress alone can be a cause of heart palpilation. Heart palpilation usually does NOT mean you have a serious heart disease. And most likely a side effect of the drug itself. THis means that if the medication is stopped, the papilations will reside. Ask your doctor to be sure and do not worry around.

Definitely agree with the anxiety reaction. Observing my pet's experiences with methylphenidate it didnt cause serious palpitation even at doses of 40mg. Now he can't handle 10mg of amphetamine without getting one. Ask his doctor and see what they have to say. Also a suggestion to swiy, have him look up clonidine, its an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist. They are autoreceptors which throttle the release of norepiniphrine, which mostly causes the physical perpherial nervous system effects (energy, increased heart beat and blood pressure, etc etc) If swiy is comfortable with polydrug therapy then it might be worth bringing up to his doctor.

Dont worry about getting taken off of your ADHD medication.A good doctor has to experament sometimes with different drugs until you find the right one and perfect dose.
Strattera was horrible for me to {massive headaches},very irritable.I think everyone hates that drug.
As far as your heart palpitations go....it probably is a panic attack,I learned to master it when I took Adderal.I had the same thing.But I could be very wrong in your case.
Please for your sake call your doctor and Im sure he will perscribe another ADHD medication.
My doctor has had me on 3 different meds.At this point Im a guiny pig for Ritalin..which Im giving a chance to work as we go up in milgs.If not its back to Adderal.
