Drug tests at Dr. office

A friend and swim was talking today about pain meds, and the question came up about getting drug tests at the doctor office to make sure the drug was in the patient system. Apparently a new procedure brought on by the DEA to make sure the meds are being used as intended and not sold. Has this happen to anyone ya'll know?
