Effects - First time...has some questions about Adderall

alright..
well The Little Dark Fairy has only just heard of Adderall xr and has a few questions about it.
1st...How can The Little Dark Fairy tell when it kicks in?
2nd..Can The Little Dark Fairy exercise while taking it? Or will it increase T.L.D.F's heart-rate too much?
3rd..T.L.D.F is a chubby bunny and does this effect the dosage T.L.D.F should take to feel anything?
4th..How long does it usually take to kick in when taken without the outer capsule coating?
T.L.D.F took 10 mg at about 8 o'clock and didn't really feel anything, except a little more awake. T.L.D.F didn't know if this was because it was sniffed and that might have a different affect than if taken orally. So T.L.D.F. decided to would look it up online and found this site. T.L.D.F. read up on it and decided to try taking another 10 mg (orally) at about 1:40.
T.L.D.F isn't really sure if it has kicked in or not, since T.L.D.F isn't familiar with how it feels when it does.

Snorting it properly takes some time and technique. Being new to Adderall, and for the sake of simplicity, consider taking it orally. This might sound unappealing, but by taking it orally at the very least SWIY will know the drug is in them.

Countless things can affect how Adderall makes a person feel, among them: whether or not the individual actually has ADHD, other psychiatric medications being taken, the individual's expectations of the drug etc. etc. etc. Even though weight could be a factor, SWIY shouldn't use it as justification for jumping to large doses; stepping up gradually is safer.

There's some subjectivity involved with knowing when it kicks in. At low doses, and perhaps especially if the drug is only being used to say help concentration, it might take a few trials before one perceives a change. Don't keep redosing every few hours. Instead try it again when well rested.

10mg probably isnt enough... even for a first time. swim would suggest starting with 30mg. Trust swim, the little dark fairy will know when it kicks in. From swims experiences, he compares it to a caffeine rush, times 100 plus euphoria. When swim started, 30mg of XR (his prescribed dose) made him feel really good.

Swim disagrees. 10mg should be enough (only if instant release Adderall-see below) for a person with no tolerance regardless of body size.

To the OP: You mentioned the "outer capsule coating." As such, swim assumes swiy is referring to Adderall XR (orange capsule containing little beads). If this is case, is swiy aware that the beads must be crushed prior to insuffulation? The beads will not absorb well in the nasal passage if they are not crushed first. Also, if swiy is using 10mg XR then the dosage may in fact be too low. If swiy is using Adderall XR, then increase the dose but expect the effects to last twice as long compared to the instant release formula.

How can swiy tell when it kicks in? Swiy will know when it kicks in.

Exercise? Yes but don't overdo it. It will raise swiy's heart rate and swiy will have more energy to workout longer and harder. Swiy does not want to injure himself by overdoing it.

Body weight and effects? This can be a factor. Swim is not a doctor and cannot elaborate much here.

How long does it take to kick in? Time of onset (ingestion) is 30-90 minutes depending on swiy's stomach contents and other factors. Removing the capsule does not increase time of onset. The capsule dissolves in seconds.

Snorting/insuffulating? Time of onset is 1-10 minutes. Again, make sure swiy crushes the beads.

Effects? Adderall contains a variety of amphetamine salts that act as a stimulant on the central nervous system (CNS). Adderall is basically a low dose of pharmacutical speed. Search the forum and swiy will learn everything there is to know about the effects of amphetamines.

Oh, swim has never used instant release.

As far as the exercise goes, just be careful and check heart rate every once and a while. Swim is not a doctor, and this probably differs from person to person but swiy probably has nothing to worry about when taking low doses of adderall. As swim mentioned in another thread, he learned the scary way about adderall and exercise... but he took way more than 10mg... 170mg of xr to be exact.

Just curious but why is swiy taking adderall? Is it to get high, improve grades, depression...? Personally, my swim takes adderall (other than ADD) because he is very lonly and depressed. He moved to a new school this year. Even though swim is very good looking, athletic, and smart and always gets hit on by the ladys, he is too shy to make friends... High doses of adderall give swim the ability to be confident and to be himself in social situations...

The Little Dark Fairy has been having some issues concentrating, and also with depression. Adderall was suggested to help.

The Little Dark Fairy ended up having to take 30mg for the Adderall to even have an effect. At first The Little Dark Fairy wasn't sure if it had really kicked in, but then she noticed that she was having an eaiser time concentrating, and also felt much happier than she has in months. Also she noticed that she couldn't seem to stop doing little things like tapping her foot or fingers. The Little Dark Fairy did try to exercise, but found that it got her heart rate going a bit too fast.

The Dark Fairy would like to say thanks to everyone who replied to her post and is grateful for all the information.

When they began taking Adderall IR, both SWIM and his friend wound up needing multiple times more than 10 MGs to get any discernible effect, but still strongly agree with how julian is looking at this. Adderall is a powerful drug, so if health is a concern it's smart to use restraint and start with a low dose.
