Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

Do SWIY's have experience in trying to induce lucid/more vivid/more aggressive dreams by taking only couple of datura seeds? SWIM has became fascinated by datura, but is not (at least yet) going to try a fully deliriant dose. He has read some reports that say that this is very effective way to induce lucid dreams, and the dosage should not be very toxic either.

SWIM would also be curious about the number of seeds, etc, that could induce a less than ridiculous state.

Re: Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

A report in erowid says using as few as 2 seeds is enough:

Quote:
Taken 90 minutes prior to bedtime. Before laying down for sleep, I noticed an ultra subtle alcohol like 'buzz'. By ultra subtle, I mean I had to ignore external stimuli to even notice at all, and even then it was BARELY noticeable. I was seeking to use Datura to aid the facilitation of lucid dreams, and as such employed other techniques that brought me close in prior attempts for lucidity. These techniques were effective to some extent, but didn't quite get me there. I had only tried 4 or 5 times prior, so to achieve lucidity this quick is astounding!

Datura did it. I had a lucid dream that seemed to last for a whole day, though I only slept for 7 hours. My dream recall has NEVER been very good, so don't expect me to recap the whole thing, but I do recall drinking a beer and a half, pouring out the other half of the 2nd beer, going to the grocery store, eating at a restaurant, mostly normal day to day shyt. Upon waking I went to the bathroom to pee, and looking in the mirror, my pupils looked normal, so I went to sit on my bed and quickly make note of my experience for this report. I swear, my handwriting is the best cryptography known to the human race, good thing I'm able to read it

I'm going to wait a week or so before trying it again, because I've read that the after effects can last for quite a while and I don't want to add more while some is still lingering in my system. I'll be doing the same dose, with the same intent, why adjust a dose that works for the desired purpose without any apparent negative effects?
http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=49308

Some swimmer in these forums said he'd been trying it too. His dose was one to five seeds.

Re: Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

In Pills-A-Go-Go by Jim Hogshire he recounts stories about the last legal paregoric Donnagel PG, an OTC cough syrup that contained not only 24mg an ounce of pure opium but all three of the belladonna alkaloids, atropine, scopolamine, and hyoscyamine! These were the ingredients that got it yanked off the shelves, not the opium even though it seems it would have taken over 40 bottles of the stuff to reach a dangeorus level of the belladonas (you'd be opium dead long before).

"these sinister substances but a nice edge on the Donnagel high and brought "flying dreams" filled with beauty and horror when I chose to sleep."*

It might be worth trying to find pharmaceutical grade versions of these chems to try this. They are used for nausea and motion sickness, and atropine can be found in Lomotil an anti-diarrheal. At least this way you know what sort of dose you are working with.

Interesting, do these low doses affect one's vision as does higher doses?

Most likely not. We are talking about doses at best a 100 magnitude lower than some recreational users use.

Maybe, but dosing 1-3 seeds doesn't go overboard anyway. SWIM should try this after relocating his seeds.

Re: Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

3 Datura inoxia seeds are more effective for this purpose. Some people take as much as 10. To be on the safe side I wouldn't take more than 10 in a day. 3 is plenty enough for most people.

Re: Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

Birkill: You do make a valid point, but at the same time, there's reason to explore the far fringes of the path of poisons. One of the biggest issues this forum has faced, is how do we deal with people wanting to know about these substances in light of their long standing traditional use. The experiments discussed above are not in excessive quantities, and should be safe assuming the test subject is healthy in mind and body, and has a full understanding of all risks involved.

Going around leaving notes like you are isn't going to go over well here.

Re: Using datura seeds to induce lucid dreaming?

SWIM can vouch for this! SWIM has been growing a Datura Inoxia last summer and still has plenty of seeds.
SWIM took 3 seeds on some nights, 5 on other nights and has time after time succeeded to increase his dreaming awareness mand dream vividness noticably.

It won't just induce a lucid dream like that, but rather makes one have more vivid, more aware dreams; a state fromm which it is much easier and muc more likely to become lucid.

Important safety note: Never do this 2 nights in a row. Take at least 3 days of waiting before you should ingest datura seeds again: You REALLY wouldn't want to slowly build up significant scopolamine levels in your system.
