coming off seroquel, need help

hey guys, I've been on 600mg of seroquel for years and have tried weaning off it many times but just didn't work. It's very addictive and I find I don't sleep or eat well without it.
I've been off it 3 days now cold turky and I think I'm doing ok, I'm using valium and codein to try to help me through this.
My main problem is my gut is aching, I feel hungry but am put off by any food. Is there anything that may be able to remedy this? I can't smoke weed because it makes me crazy so that's not an option.

thanks for any help

Swim recommends trying Ginger or, if the problem becomes serious, discussing it with swiy's doctor.

thanks for the reply,
it's a bit late tho (not directed at you but I thought the guys on here would be willing to try to help me beat my addiction)
I've found that to fight the stomach bullshit I MUST eat ALL the time, like 5-6 times a day, usually I'd only eat like 2 times a day

I gotta say to anyone on seroquel or thinking about taking it daily, DON'T
this drug is fucking bad for you, I got hooked on it when a bunch of know nothing quacks force fed it to me for like 3 weeks and kept taking it for like 2 years just because of the withdrawl symptoms if I didn't. I don't wanna go into too many details but this drug has fucked me up big time, after a week off it I'm starting to see some positive changes in the way I think but I still think it's gonna be a long time before I've fully recovered from what the seroqual's done to me

Stay away from quacks unless they wanna wanna give you benzo's all their other candy is bad, I've been o a lot of different anti-phsycs before and they all fuck you up and have no good effects

Re: coming off seroquel, need help

I got off Seroquel cold turkey last year, as well as many other psyche meds. I've been on several antipsychotics for generalized anxiety and they are awful. Risperdal was the worst, Abilify was really bad, Seroquel I hardly remember what it did- I was on about six meds at once at the tyime, the thing is none of the meds I was on worked so they added more and more and more and it's like, as an adolescent I had generalzied anxiety disorder and ADD, I was not psychotic, but I was put on all these antipsychotics and it was just really awful. Seroquel sucks. Thing is, I never really paid attention to the meds I was on, so when I got off them cold turkey, I didn't thinkl twice about it or look for withdrawals.

Re: coming off seroquel, need help

Ginger and peppermint--in the form of tea or otherwise--are some of the best remedies for upset stomach/nausea around.

I was prescribed Risperdal, Anafranil, Prozac, Effexor, Luvox, Lexapro, and several others since 16, and agree with your sentiments--they suck. Risperdal made me gain 50 lbs. in 3 months, and every last one of them was absolute hell on earth to quit...worse than opiates, weed, or anything. Just as a warning: it can take up to a year for your body/mind to "normalize" after quitting, so be patient. Whatever keeps you on an even keel emotionally, do it. Just know that this isn't your natural, unmedicated state; it's withdrawals making you feel this way.

Best of luck to you.

Re: coming off seroquel, need help

SWIM was using seroquel for some time (six months) but didnt have any problem quitting for some reason. Swim is also taking Venlafaxine XL (works pretty well nasty withdrawal though) daily with Aripiprazole (abilify)

SWIM finds Mirtazapine (zispin) to help with calming the nerves and helfull with sleep. OR.. SWIY could try a small dose of seroguel about 50m-100mg cut from a tablet, crushing the piece and drinking in a glass of water to sleep this may help with weening off the drug... hope that may help you other wise Swim doesnt know what else to suggest other than maybe diazepam in small doses.

kaczynski is a decent SWIMmer.
Re: coming off seroquel, need help

SWIM was prescribed seroquel a while back but had no idea it is addictive until just now. You'd think the doctor would mention something like that.

I've been in the system for like 6 years and in my experience with over 10 different doctors they don't give a shit what the meds do to you, they just wanna numb your brain and turn you into a zombie so you don't kill yourself or anyone else.

Re: coming off seroquel, need help

Lizard had been on 400mg of Seroquel for several years, and came off of it in solitary confinement in county jail.

I see from your profile SWIY's probably male. Well, Lizard can attest that, about 4-5 days off, Seroquel withdrawal makes one (at least, makes males) comically horny! That, combined with the hyper-emotional state it puts one in, makes Lizard think it would be a good drug to withdraw from if in a relationship...given Lizard's less-than-desirable situ, at least it gave him a way to pass the time! (I'm being serious...time-occupiers in S.C. are golden.)

The nervousness, upset stomach, etc, Lizard would describe as similar in nature, but intensity about 10% of alcohol W/D, and they passed by day 3 or so.
