Question Apomorphine?

SWIM has come across some capsules he found while working at a veterinarians. They were disposed in the trash in bottle (only two) and the bottle was labled "APOMORPHINE". The bottle was in the trash can where the vets dispose of all controlled substances. SWIM has UTFSE and has tried Google but can glean very little information. They are two-tone turquoise and green capsules with a very small amount of what looks like salt inside. Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

Re: Apomorphine?

It is used mostly in animals to induce emesis(vomiting).
It was used some time ago in people to treat homosexuality and parkinsons.

This is why religion has no place in either politics or medicine(physical or mental). One will recall, homosexuality was larger treated under the guise of "mental disease/defect" and not so much under "medical disease/defect."

Re: Apomorphine?

Recreationally, it is useless. It is a morphine derivative, but it doesn't bind to opioid receptors.

Re: Apomorphine?

Apomorphine is a strong emetic agent--which is what vets use it for...to make Fido puke when they've eaten something naughty--unless one gets off by puking, it will do nothing for them.

The search engine should have got you here: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...ht=apomorphine

I wrote a post (post 9 - the last one as I write this) on that thread to which I refer you to. Apomorphine is not a narcotic.

Re: Apomorphine?

contrary to what the name may suggest it does not bind to any opiod receptors. it doesnt have any recreational value and i can almost 100 percent say if you take it it will make you throw up as its a powerful emetic. on a side note it was used to treat homosexuality.

Either way.. taking medication meant for an animal seems like a bad idea.

Nothing really. (It'd be like trying to "cure" a gay man with Viagra.) Apo-morphine was once thought to aid erection.

Homosexuality was demonized by both religious-types and deemed to be a "disease of the mind" by those in the psychiatric field for many, many decades. It hasn't been used for the purpose of "curing gays" since the early 1900's.

Ahh.. ok.

So it was just a dumb remedy made up 100 years ago.. Seems a bit odd that they'd think it aids erection.. If anything puking would probably kill any erection that you have

Re: Apomorphine?

Benperidol could be good for curing non-straights. It is a super potent antipsychotic in the same chemical category as Haldol and droperidol. It is currently used on perverts and rapists, often by court order, to control their unacceptable behaviour.
Apomorphine has no use in this field and is not a controlled drug, it was removed from the US controlled substances act when they realised its lack of recreational potential.

Re: Apomorphine?

Man5onite, benperidol (a butyrophenone) interferes with sexual desire and performance so combined with behavioural therapy it is good for controlling sodomite urges.

Re: Apomorphine?

Something tells me that while you may be right concertaXL, that the inducing vomitting part was also used to abuse gay people and those who wouldn't conform to gender sterotypes. I caught the tail end of "the abuse them until their cured" mentality in the early 90s and let me say if they gave me a pill to induce vomitting I would have vomitted all over those so called doctors and it would be on purpose. Abusing anyone just because you don't like who they are isn't medicine, it is torture and those people should be forced to suffer through their treatments before ever being allowed to treat another patient, if they ever should be allowed to practice "medicine" again. blah damn doctors should stay out of my pants and bedroom.

John Dent also used apomorphine as part of an opiate detox in the 50's.It's been discredited a long time.

Pinksox: Faith has a place in all areas of life, including medicine. Why would one deny that? The natural orientation of humans is heterosexual. Are you one of those evolutionist, foolishly anti-God people who believe in "monkeys to man ,via a common ancestor"?

Oh boy, prepare to get flamed.

:::makes a quick comment before running away to prevent being burned:::

"Natural orientation" - what the hell is that suppose to mean? Homosexual behaviour is present in a variety of animals, are they not following their "natural orientation" either?

Re: Apomorphine?

I'm one of those intelligent people who said it doesn't matter one way or the other how we got here, since no one can prove either side to me. No one was there and enough people have killed each other over it that it seems like a grown up society would allow those who believe in each side to have their beliefs and not be bothered by the fact that people disagree. Right now the most important thing is how we act today, the next day and whether we do what we believe is right. There is absolutely no reason to flame pinksox or anyone for their beliefs. If you don't agree or agree state it in a reasonable post and be prepared that not everyone will agree or disagree with you. Frankly I don't care what people do as long as they aren't abusive in how they do it. Being gay isn't the issues, being human is. I have known some of the nicest religious and non-religious folks, I have also met people who feel they have the right judge and be cruel to others for whatever sick reason they have. At the end of the day they don't have justification or right to do it. As the saying goes "your right to hit me ends where my nose begins". I hope you think about what I have said and consider the hurt your words and your intentions behind those words might have. Take care and I am not trying to flame you, I just am asking you to think about the effect your choice of words might have.
