Other - Putty base + microwave = disaster.

OK, SWIM usually gets their sulphate in the form of "putty base", though SWIM doesn't know whether that's real "base" or not.

Anyway, SWIM will usually dry it out on a radiator rather than having to handle the sticky putty, but tonight there wasn't time to do so before going out, so SWIM stupidly put it in the microwave (inside a paper envelope) for about 10-20 seconds instead.

Big Mistake: instead of a quarter-ounce of lovely 'phet, SWIM now has an envelope coated with a solid brown glaze, which smells slightly treacle-like (presumably due to glucose or similar adulterant that was in it).

Aside from feeling extremely stupid and chalking it up as a lesson learned, is there anything else SWIM can with the remnants other than bin them?

swim wouldnt bin them, disolve the sugary glaze into water, see what it tastes of...
caramel phet.
And base is amph sulphate from what i know so would not be a real 'base'

i believe the base of amphetamine is an oil rather than a salt.
To be honest SWIM would probably rip bits of the envelope with the amphetamine on it and eat the appropriate amount.

Swim says he thinks base is such an odd substance, that he would half expect a microwave to blow up, if he put any in. (said with tongue in cheek)

Thanks for the responses - SWIM knows "base" isn't the correct term, but that's what the putty-stuff is known as locally.
SWIM left it to dissolve overnight in water, and now has a noxious-looking brown solution... SWIM thought about heating it gently to reduce it down, but wasn't sure if that would evaporate off the important bits, so will probably just try a couple of sips later and see how that works instead. It may be time to invest in a hip flask
