Ativan / Lorazepam rebound affect

SWIM notices that whenever SWIM's Ativan wears off after about six hours SWIM has a very strange reaction. SWIM has had low energy and fatigue for a long time, so SWIM doesn't like the sedated, low energy feeling Ativan gives. SWIM has had low energy for quite some time. When Ativan wears off, SWIM suddenly gets this burst of energy. SWIM's heart beats very fast. SWM gets very anxious. SWIM starts talking really fast and SWIM gets really emotional, anxious, upset, irritated, paranoid, hyper, somewhat crazy. The exact opposite of how SWIM is on Ativan. SWIM sometimes freaks out and just has this intense rebound feeling. Does SWIY else get anxious, emotional, irritable, paranoid, hyper panicky and feel somewhat crazy and loss of sanity when their Ativan wears off? This is only on 1/2 of a 0.5 dose, SWIM cuts up the Ativan pills into pieces and only takes 1/4 1/3 or 1/2 of the Ativan pill because SWIM has a sensitive reaction to drugs. It's like on an amphetamine comedown SWIM feels depressed, tired and extremely sad and emotional. On benzo comedown, SWIM feels the opposite. SWIM knows that an emphetamine comedown is normal, but does everyone get this kind of benzo rebound? SWIM didn't get this from Klonopin.

Re: Ativan / Lorazepam rebound affect

It is because Ativan (lorazepam) is short acting benzodiazepine, see my thread on how to withdraw.

Lorazepam (Ativan is the 13th post down). Good luck.

Mitigation with flumazenil will eliminate rebound effects, but this sounds like a case of benzo dependency.

Re: Ativan / Lorazepam rebound affect

SWIM just noticed that every night from 5:00 to 8:00 SWIM has been having these rapid mood swings. SWIM feels in a random order, happy, almost manic, excited, in love, enthusiastic, sudden burst of energy and happiness, angry, irritated, really pissed off, sad, depressed, low energy, overly emotional, anxious, nervous, almost crazy. The moods cycle in a random order each time from five o clock until about eight a clock and it happens every night whether or not SWIM takes Ativan in the morning. The only time it doesn't happen is when SWIM takes Ativan at night. SWIM doesn't know if it's from the Ativan or something else. It's so weird, the rapid shifting moods between hours, but all moods are always felt in random orders. This did not happen until SWIM started Ativan, SWIM doesn't know if it's from Ativan or not.

Re: Ativan / Lorazepam rebound affect

Try trazadone or mitrazepine, I think it is an imbalance of serotonin...but I'm not a doctor. I suggest SWIY see's one
